Moved to San Francisco after graduation and worked at a blues music agency, writing music videos. Moved to Los Angeles in 83 as freelance writer. Wrote press kits for Warner Bros., as well as screenplays State of Emergency for HBO, A Year in The Life for NBC, Married to A Stranger for ABC, Running Mates for TNT, and documentary Tapestries of Hope for Showtime. Congressman Costa asked us to screen the documentary for State Dept, Congress and Amnesty and hosted us in DC as we spoke to representatives about Zimbabwe and violence legislation. Attended the inauguration and VIP inaugural ball in 2009. Won Pen Literary Award, Cable Ace and Humanitas nominations. Am member of Writers Guild of America and Publicists Guild. Just co-wrote actor Maurice Benard's memoir Nothing General About It: How Love and Lithium Saved Me On and Off General Hospital (HarperCollins), on shelves in April 2020.

School Story:

I remember the projects I dragged everyone into -- building sets for dances and proms, and getting everyone to sell candles to raise money for it. Then having to fight to be allowed to reinstate a Sr. Class Play - and making people help raise money for it. Then directing it. Paul Whitescarver did Robert Redford's part in Barefoot in the Park justice! Blowing up a million balloons to attach to cars to advertise it..... I am always raising money for causes and dragging people into passion projects now - they tease me and call me the prom chairman. Some things never change!
