For those of you who have been asking(and thank you)...Matt started working this week. It's a temporary job that will most likely turn permanent in a month or two. It's at that place he has wanted to work at for so long. Tommy Ogle...if you are reading...yes, it's ADM Micro.

Carla, thrilled to hear that Matt is working...even better that it's somewhere he wants to be. Save me a copy of the paper that you are in since Todd didn't send us foreigners a link to it. See you next week. I'll send you my number before I leave.

Chris - No matter how bad the husband can feel, he can always change the kitty litter...it's a trade off for everything else we take care of :) 19 years later John is wishing our cat would just drop dead. Hope you feel better soon.

Tony - thanks for the link to the VA Tech article....

Sean Bowyer - got your message...I'll send you the snow next time :P...oh you'd appreciate the 6 pointer we had walking around in the woods behind our house. Once again John missed his chance...lol

Carla...I'm so glad that Matt has started somewhere, and that it was the place he wanted!! We have so many friends out of work, trying to make it on one income and in a few cases, those incomes are part time. Lots of loans from 401K accounts. We'll keep praying for Matt that it becomes permanent.

Chris/Vicky...Open the door, cats will learn to poop outside. I don't think we've had to scoop anything since I lets our newest one explore the great outdoors. Though when scoopage is required...man's work!

Carla...Tell Matt congratulations! That is awesome. I can't say enough good things about ADMMicro. I hope a permanent position works out for him. Take care!

Reunion Committee...can ya'll give me some insight on working with Roanoke Plaza? My in-laws are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year and my hubby and I want to throw them a party/reception for around 100 guests. Our reunion space was nice and I thought the food was pretty good, I just want to know which room we were in and how the staff was to work with, etc...Thanks!

Come on girls...what sissys you are! Cleaning cat litter is no big deal. We love our kitties so much we don't mind. Ours are all pretty old now, so they don't go out as much...arthritis. We are just glad they are here to clean up after...we can't even talk about losing any of the three. Besides, after raising kids I KNOW you have seen worse messes!!!

Ah-ha! Tommy Ogle is a ghost reader. I figured that might draw him out.
Thanks for all the well-wishes.

Don't get me wrong Carla, I'll do it...I just figure that considering all the chores around here that I do, that he can add the cat litter to his :P ... besides, if he'll do it I might as well take advantage of it.

Well middle child turns 13 tomorrow...so I am geared up for the sleepover tonite...John just went to get all the girls from the basketball game and hit Walmart for some snacks. I completely re-did her room, new bedding, new accessories, new curtains, lamps, paint, you name it, I did it, (Zebra Print) She hasn't seen it yet as we were doing the "While you were Out" for her birthday....it will never be this clean again..

everyone have a good weekend.

Vicky...good luck tonight with the sleepover, hopefully you can rest up tomorrow. Good job on the While you were out room. My little Lexi has a jungle room too...I will love it forever, and it will never go out of style! My friends did a "While you were out thing" when I was pregnant for her nursery, and I loved it so much, that I had my sister-in-law take the crib bedding and turn it into a quilt for her full size bed.

Hope everyone has a good night, and weekend!!

Vicky --- that is soooooooooo cool that you did that for her. And I guess that we all have to remember that our kids do appreciate the things that we do for them, even if they don't tell us. I know that there are so many things that I can remember now that I feel like I owe my parents a HUGE apology for. You know...the things that they went out of their way for me, but I just didn't thank them enough...or sometimes I may not have thanked them at all. It's not like I meant to be a brat or anything. I just didn't realize how much they went through to do some of the things that they did. Now that I am a parent and jumping thru these hoops for my kids, I realize how much my parents did for me. :)

Well, we are off to get some errands completed. Ya'll have a great day!!!!!!!!

Hi All~ Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I am in my second week of the Atkins diet so I feel like I literally have a whole chicken and cows in my intestines. But it does work, so I am going to continue on. I ate toooo many meatballs, hashbrown casserole, and 9 blocks of cream cheese over the holidays...ouch! At least I can get my jeans back on now. But I do miss my chips and salsa....bad!

If anyone wants to do lunch this week, I am game...I can do Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday...so let me know if anyone wants to get together. My only request is there is meat, fish, eggs, cheese, or poultry I can gnaw on!

Kristen - I know exactly what you are saying, I got it all done, (finished the throw pillows today) and she was thrilled...she did actually say she loved it and hugged my neck, which anyone who knows Abby that was short of a miracle..so it was all worth it. Thought I'd share a photo from our "While She Was Out / Clean Sweep" Birthday present. I wish I would have had a cool room like this growing up. Although I probably went a little overboard with all the stuff I covered with fabric. Abbys New Room

Vicky~ The room looks awesome!! I just changed Kenzie's room from purple to a light pink and then did the accessorizing in black and white. Her furniture is massive, black furniture (thanks to gmother)...I LOVE the combination!!

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Jolee - Thanks. it was definately a work of love...I think mainly the cleaning before I could get started... Abby has the "gmother" handed down furniture as well which is dark wood (except for bunk bed, John built that, and the white desk she had I painted black), I didn't capture the other half of the room as this picture was taken standing in the hallway. Knowing Abby I will end up changing this within two years. I was told I was losing square footage in my house do to all the painting that I do. (Her room is on it's 3rd color) in 5 years.

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Vicky...the room is AWESOME!! Girl, don't you worry about painting too much or losing square footage, it is the cheapest, easiest way to get a new look. I'm a regular painter too, I'm on my 3 hue of golden/yellow in our living room/dining room/entry/hallway (in 7 months). I just can't find that "right" shade. Still not thrilled, but this one is growing on me.

Jolee...good luck on Atkins girl. I've been there done, done that. I always gain it back though, so I'm trying a "eat less, move more" non-diet. A friend turned me on to www.sparkpeople.com - you can track food and exercise. It has tonz of recipes, tips, message boards, etc. The cool thing is you put in your current height, weight, age, sex and your goal weight by when. It then tells you how many calories you can eat in fat, carbs, protiens, as well as how much you have to excercise in order to hit your goal. It's a little time consuming, but seems to be working so far. I also have a HUGE motivator - I'll fill you in on that at lunch. I don't have ANY meetings this week, so I should be good for anyday this week.

Okay all you chefs...here is a GREAT recipe I made this weekend...sorry Jolee...it's only 1/2 a block of cream cheese...and it's worth it! It's super easy and so moist because of the pineapple. I took this to the home of someone who could make his living as a gourmet chef...and I was proud of it!

Mexican wedding cake

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. soda
2 eggs
¾ cup chopped walnuts
1 20 oz. can crushed pineapple (undrained)
1 tsp. vanilla

mix all together well
pour into a greased/floured 13x9 pan
bake at 350 for 35 minutes
cool before icing

Icing
1 box powdered sugar
½ stick margarine
4 oz. low fat cream cheese (softened)
1 tsp. vanilla

beat until smooth and spread on cooled cake

Damn Carla...that's just plain mean to put that AWESOME recipe out there right in the face of someone who would now have a seizure if she put real sugar in her mouth! It has been two weeks since I have had anything with sugar or flour in it. The closest I got was last night, for dessert, I had sugar free jello with vanilla cool whip on it...it was like heaven...NOT!!!! You all try it for me!!
