Steve,

YEAH glad you finally opened the can....see what kind of results happen when the can finally opens.........I have to do it every now and again......:)
thanks for lunch did I forget to thank you, sorry.......hope I didn't yak your ear off. I was a bit grumpy that day I think.

You all have fun tomorrow......I will miss you but I know there will be lots of fun to be had.

Vicky, good job on the room. Funny Maggie just asked to have hers redone so you have given me some inspiration. Good luck with painting do you hire out for that? I hate to paint and hubby says I am not very good at it either.....does require a little more patience than I have.........

Sharon R did you take care of that little matter we discussed at dinner? You need to call me or email me so I can update you...........Shannon N are you enjoying your job? Hope it is going great!
Have a great day tomorrow everyone and see you soon!

Hi Everyone!
Kristen WB~Yes! We will have to have another weekend this year. I still laugh when I think of all the funny things that were said or done that weekend.

Faye~The job is going well. Our second semester started Wed. (instead of Monday b/c of 2 snow days), so today was only my 2nd day. I have two 6th, 7th, & 8th grade classes for the Reading Elective. I can already tell there are about 3 guys & l girl in one of the 8th grade classes that I'm going to kick out. We had an assembly today during that class block so I did not have them. (Yay!) I'll give them a chance tomorrow & that's it! All the other classes are great. The principal is coming in to talk to them tomorrow & he said we'll move them out if they don't behave. They think they can go to PE & have fun but the principal said he will put them in something hard like "Creative Writing" with a strict man teacher.

The picture that was taken of all of us in front of Northside Jr. (at Homecoming in October) is framed AND on my desk at school. Some of the students have already noticed it. It makes me smile when I glance at it.

Have fun at lunch tomorrow!

PS~John~I love George Jones. I don't care if he's old, he's a legend! Too bad I'm not there, I'd buy your tickets. I saw him in the early '90's.

Hey everyone,

I need to start the awesome NHS Class of 88 prayer chain...for my DAD. He found out cancer is back after 5 years. He had prostate cancer..prostate was removed and now something is back. Not sure where..tests tomorrow then results and 10000000000000000000 questions on Tuesday with the doc. We will find out where, what stage and what treatment. So if all of you could keep my dad in your prayers I would owe you all big time..I can handle anything in the world but I am not so sure this situation will be easy. With all of this depending on what happens with my dad, I am planning on making a trip to Roanoke March 9-16 which is my spring break. I will keep you all posted!

Shannon...can you email me that picture? I would love to have one at school..

Vicky..can you send me the copy of the one of Barry and me? Thanks!

If you girls can send me the pics..my email is scbadger10@yahoo.com...thanks!

Amy Wilhelm (McGuirt)

Susan~ I'll keep you both in my prayers! Please make sure to keep us posted :)

Greg Terry

Susan - We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated on how things are going.

Lunch Group - I will not be able to make it today. I received a call from the Tijuana Police asking me if I knew Stef. I said no at first but then I heard her screaming in the background so I told them the truth. Anyways, I have to pick Todd up at 11 and we are going to bail her out. Have fun at lunch!

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Susan...so sorry about your dad. Your family is in my prayers. Please keep us posted.

Shannon...glad to hear the job is going well. Mine has slowed down a bit, but I think it is going to be a busy year. Lots of travel planned, but more day trips than overnight. The up/down and back to Warrenton or Grundy are tough on me, but easier on the family.

Lunch crowd...see you at 12:30pm.

Susie --- Take it from someone that knows that situation ALL too well, things will be okay. And if you need to talk, then just call me. I don't care what time it is, just call!!!! My dad had prostate cancer, did the surgery, and it came back. He has had colon cancer, did the surgery, it came back, and did another surgery. Stay positive. Prostate cancer is one of the slowest growing cancers. You know that I love ya and I will do whatever needs to be done to get you and your family through this. Hugs and kisses being blown your way!!

Steve Jones --- My, oh my, you are still breathing!!! I really do miss you and Tara. She looks at you the same way that I look at my Steve....always with loving eyes!!! :)

Susie - hang in there girl.

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Lunch Crew - Thanks again, had a great time today...

Steve - you still have me cracked up about the superglue

Trina - I will never be able to walk near a Walmart Bathroom again...lol...that was classic.

Susie - so sorry to hear about your dad...he's in our prayers. As for the picture I will send it to you...I'm in Roanoke this weekend so when I get home I will. It may be on mine or Barry Lenior's profile, you should be able to click on the image and save it to your computer.

Faye - I haven't thought about hiring out...although painting my mom's kitchen today just about did me in. I forgot what it was like to paint the swirly plaster walls.

Greg - sorry you didn't make it out to lunch...maybe I will catch you and Todd on the next trip down.

Brian Dent - Dude, you still rule on FFL...kicked my butt there at the end and I had a pretty good record going.

Thanks everyone for the prayers.

Vicky, I will try that with the pics this weekend.

Kristen..I find out Tuesday. I know you have class so call me when you are on your way home. If not I will call you Wed morning. Ironic you said about your dad. I told my brother and Dawn that I bet you it's in his colon. Dad doesn't have his prostate anymore. He's been fine for 5 years and this just came about. Doctor has said it's very rare this happens. His PSA has been 0 for 5 years. It was suppose to be his last visit and then this. His PSA was like 8.7. I am praying and praying they caught it early. I am staying positive. It's harder because I am not there. I got to school yesterday, saw the picture dad sent to me 2 years ago on my birthday. It was him holding me when I was 1 month old. It's on my desk at work. I just couldnt stop crying. I had to get it together because I didn't want to have to explain it to my students. Anyway...I drive in the freakin traffic with too much time to think. I said I cant not drive and not be able to call my dad. How do I take his number out of my phone? Then I stopped and said stop. We don't know anything yet. Tuesday afternoon we will know. Davey is going with him. I am planning to come home during my spring break which is March 9-16 if not sooner depending on what the doctor says.

Thanks again everyone...its appreciated more than you will ever know..miss you guys.

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Susie, if there is anything I can do to help, I will be there. Your brother knows me well enough to call me if something comes up in town until you get back. I will be glad to explain anything the docs are saying. Are they sending him to an oncologist? If so, will he be going to the VA or to one of the other docs? I know them all well and can help out with communication if you need me to. Anything I can do to help, oncology and chemotherapy are my life of nursing...I will be thinking of you all. Hugs~

02/02/09 01:04 AM #1904

Susan Jones (Badger)

Thanks Jolee. I am not sure where he is going. My brother is going with him Tuesday afternoon to the doctor to find out everything and ask the questions. This is the part I hate so much being away. but trust me if I don't understand I will ask you. It's not in his prostate. that was removed 5 years ago...so doc said it's somewhere else...the test should show. But the research i have done it could be an infection and not necessarily cancer. so we will see. The good part..they had to have caught it early. My dad can't remember if it was 6 months or 12 months ago since his last test. So worse case it's been 12 months since his PSA level was 0. That gives me hope!

Thanks so much and I will keep you posted. My bro was a bit weird on the phone. Probably he was scared. I will remind him to call you! I have your cell. Thanks and I will keep you posted.

Amazing that we have all reconnected to help us through tough timess....God is great! and so is the class of 88

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Susie --- Just know that I am thinking about you and I will call you when I come home from my class. My dads prostate cancer came back where his prostate use to be. It can also come back in your liver and somewhere else. My dad seeks the advice from the doctors at UVA, so I would definitely encourage your dad to do the same. 2nd opinions are always a good idea.

Susie, you and your family are in my prayers. This past month has been very trying for me as well and I know what you are going through. Keep your chin up.

Thanks everyone so much for the thoughts and prayers!

Talked to my dad and brother. His cancer is back but it has not spread to his bones or any vital organs. Doc said that he has to have radiation for 5 days a week starting Feburary 18th. He will do that for 4 months then another test. Doc said that it won't cure the cancer but at least will help slow it down. Molasses speed sounds good to me. Anyway..he got a shot of hormones today and another shot in 4 months as well. He seemed in better spirits and so did my brother. It's great news overall but the Doc was very frank and honest. He still has cancer but it's early. Pray for everyone in our families. I have had a lot to think about over the last few days and it's just hard. I know a lot of you get that.

Kristen...thanks for being there. You always have been and always will be!!! It means more than you know.

I miss you guys!!! Thanks again and I will keep you posted through this journey.

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Hey Susie - My mom did radiation 5 days a week for almost 4 months and did pretty good, continued to work at the school..she'd take her lunch at 230, drive 45 mins to the hospital, do her radiation and then drive home...towards the end when they doubled the doses she got really tired, but overall did well. We'll continue to pray for your dad...perhaps by the time he gets done with his radiation you'll be moving to Roanoke :)
Talk to you soon,

Hey I emailed you that picture of you and Barry that you wanted.

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Susie, So glad to hear that your dad's spirits are up and that they caught it early. Keep your chin up girlie and know we are here if you need anything.

Vicky, It was great seeing you last week. How did your mom's kitchen come out??

Steve, Jolee, Amy, Had a blast at lunch. Haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Can't wait for the next lunch.

Back on the road tomorrow. Ya'll have a great rest of the week and weekend...

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Trina - Hey Girl, I am still chuckling over your Walmart story..I'm so glad I got to meet everyone for lunch. I got back to Bedford and painted until 7 that night...I was dog tired too. Got up and painted until after lunch on Saturday, but it got finished and really looks nice. I had forgotten her kitchen and dining area are one big space..lots of trim...but she was pleased, that's all that matters. I'm trying to figure out another time that I can make the trip down..without working...I'll keep you posted.

02/04/09 01:48 PM #1911

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Vicky...get your butt down here with some notice and we will plan a girls' night out!! I'm so ready for one!

ps. I've got a bathroom that needs some painting if you need a reason (heehee)!

02/04/09 02:10 PM #1912

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Trina - I'm hoping sometime in March when Zach's games are finished..down on Thursday, back on Sunday. Yea, we have to do a night out, I still owe you a drink or twelve ;) As for your bathroom, as long as it's not 1000 square feet with 9 foot high swirly walls I'm game.

02/04/09 02:11 PM #1913

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Susie - Hope you got the picture I sent to you.

Carla - Hope you are feeling better. Tell Matt thanks, he's such a great guy.

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Susie~ Your dad got really good news. Honestly. They are probably giving him Lupron shots...which are tolerable...and not chemo. So that is a good sign too. The radiation will work out okay. Like Vicky said, he will be tired...but it sounds like he is tough anyway. Those nurses in radiation oncology are great. My mom had tongue cancer...yes, tongue cancer 2 years ago...had to have a mask put over her face and SCREWED that mask down to the table. She tolerated 42 days of it. That was her regimen. It's amazing what people will do to stick around with family. Let me know if you need ANYTHING!!

02/04/09 10:42 PM #1915

Susan Jones (Badger)

Vicky..yes I got the picture thank you and thank you for your kind words!!

Jolee...I am hoping you guys are all right!! It is good news and I am staying positive. It could have been worse so hopefully the treatments will work and it can be in the past!! Just not sure after that surgery then this and his age..just a lot in 5 months of time...we will get through it!!

I appreciate and so does my dad all of your prayers!! It means more than you know!

Going to bed..gym at 5:5
