I've been continuing to enjoy the choice I made seven years ago to work full time as a portrait photographer; It's been fun and rewarding beyond words; It's also given me the opportunity to work with/reconnect with a few people from our class! I have a natural light studio in Burnsville now, and going there even three years after I acquired it still makes me proud to have come this far on what seemed like such a leap of faith at the time. At 42 I actually finally feel like "a grown up." :-)
Since the twenty year reunion, my husband and I have relocated our family from a sleepy town in the country to St. Paul. It was something we had been considering for some time, and in spite of the trade-offs, I do believe it was one of the best decisions we've ever made.
My 8 year old son adjusted to the move immediately; He loves his Taekwondo, and the neighbor kids who are always present; My daughter needed some time. Now she is almost 13 now and suddenly wearing black concert T's, coloring her hair unnatural hues, and walking to the beat of her own drum. Sound familiar, John Adams folks? Yep; she's a Mini me. I try to remember what it was like to want to be in my room behind a closed door all the time; no longer interested in "family time.." but I miss her! I suppose it was inevitable; I had it coming.
My parents live in WI now so I rarely get back to Rochester. I am photographing Jill Sutherland's wedding there in July, and returning for the reunion. Looking forward to it!
