Michael Licari

I met Kirsten in the University of Minnesota marching band. I graduated from the U in 1993, then earned a Masters degree in 1994 and a PhD in Political Science in 1997 from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

I started my career in the Department of Political Science at SUNY Binghamton in New York. Daniel was born in 1998 out there. We came to the University of Northern Iowa in 2001. I became Associate Dean of the Graduate College at UNI in 2008. After heading the Political Science department in 09/10, I became the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate College in August, 2010. I then served as interim Provost and Vice President from 2014-2015.

After a good 14 years at the University of Northern Iowa, I was hired as the Provost and Vice President at Indiana State University in 2015.

UPDATE: As of March 1, 2021, I am the President of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee!
