How many years with your spouse or partner:

45

Are you working now?

Easing my way toward retirement. Finishing a couple of long-term projects while being a full-time caregiver for my husband as he recovers from a serious head injury, and a reverse shoulder replacement.

Would you like to share your employment history?

Worked as a research/development chemist at Kodak for 17 years, then went freelance. Owned my own company, MasterWork Consulting, which provided technical/business communications services to other companies: writing, editing, web design, and training.

Grandchildren:

None

What are your favorite pastimes?

Singing keeps me sane. I was a paid church soloist/section leader since 1990 (now retired and singing as a volunteer at Third Presbyterian Church). I've had paid semi-pro singing gigs with several groups, including Publick Musick, and have sung in community choruses since high school (Rochester Oratorio Society, Rochester Bach Festival Chorus, Madrigalia).

When not working or singing, I read, care for cats/plants/our 1910 house, and spend as much time as I can with my husband, a retired high school science teacher.

Places you have traveled and sights you have seen?

Frequently visit relatives and friends in New York City, Colorado, Ohio. Several trips over the years to the UK and France. Visited friends in Qatar on the Arabian Gulf in 2010. Spent three weeks in Turkey (September 2012), spending time in Istanbul, Ismir, Perge, Antalia, Konya) Highlights of that trip were a 4-day cruise along the Mediterranean coast visiting archeological sites, meeting up with relatives who live and work in Istanbul, and singing with my husband in the partially-restored ancient outdoor theater in Aspendos (our 15 minute of fame)!

Who was your favorite teacher from the JMHS and Why?

It's hard to pick just one. George Corwin (Junior and Senior Choirs, Marshall Singers 1960-64) introduced me to Renaissance music, and triggered my addiction to Early Music performance. Charles Pflaum (Honors Math, grades 8 & 9) made me see the beauty in mathematics, and nurtured problem-solving skills that carried over into other areas of my life. David Wood (Honors English 1964-5) was the first English teacher that made me WORK for a decent grade. If my college freshman English course had been half as good, I might have changed my major.

Do you have a "Bucket List"?

Yes. It's on my blog (http://www.katnagel.com) on the page titled "Do!"
