Straight from our yearbook:

"This was the year that marked the beginning of a new, different Rock Hill High School. The spirit will never die, yet many of the familiar nice ties of the old institution passed into the annals of history."

All,

The following update was sent by Sister Carolyn Bennett. I thought you would want to know:

"I want to let you know Dana Pelletier died this past February, 2011 in Greenville SC. I was able to attend his funeral. His sister, Annette, is the class of 1968. He died in his sleep."

Hi Becky,

Thanks for all the hard work you and the others are doing for the class reunion.  Just wanted to mention that I believe Benny Childers passed away a few years ago but I don't recall when.  Maybe someone has this info they can pass on to you.

Thanks again,

Susan Ghantt Ghent

Check out the tab, "Your Soundtracks." This was Kay Elrod's idea so thanks Kay. She has sent a link(s) to pay tribute to our service men and women.

Here is one example. The rest are on the Your Soundtrack tab.

Hi ya'll. I also want to thank you for all the work involved in this. You've done a great job and I'm excited about seeing you all soon. Hard to believe it's been 45 years!

Thanks Becky. There are so many ways we can record the soundtrack of our lives. I wanted to include periods of time when music told our story and not just tunes we liked to dance to. The 60's and 70's were rich with so many different kinds of music. For instance, the 70's not only offered the protest music, but also the Flower Power songs, the British Invasion, Rhythm & Blues of the Motown period and, of course, the Country Music explosion. I realized it was impossible to pick just a song or two from the era. So, I will pick a few of my favorites (excluding the dance music and beach songs). Try to pick a few from a period of 62 years - it's hard! The first song I can remember learning was "Hey there, hi there, ho there, you're as welcom as can be ------ yea Mickey! And though I didn't know it at the time, but now realize I was there when it happened - Rock & Roll was born. I vividly remember the Everly Brothers, Brenda Lee, the Coasters, and of course Elvis - in the 1950's. I think I'll give it a rest for now and continue this discussion later (the 60's).

I wonder if anyone out there has any prom pictures, football games, videos or other noteworthy photos they could post on our site. Thanks, Kay

What a precious little girl! Remember her and what a great time she grew up in?  Mickey Mouse Club, Ginny Dolls, paper dolls, RC cola, Moonpies, hoola hoops, Princess Pet, Winky Dink, Howdie Doodie, Sputnik, civil alert tests, wearing dresses to school - ah, it was a good life, going barefooted all summer, Bible school, mayonnaise sandwiches, roller skates that strapped across your shoe with a key to tighten them, the Good Humor truck.
