Becky Armstrong (Helms)

All, (see post card below)

We only mailed the post card announcing our new website and August 13th Reunion to those without email addresses who may not have access to a computer. In case you are wondering why you may not have received a card, we were taking into consideration expenses associated with direct mailing.

Between website, emails, FB and word of mouth, we are looking forward to a good showing of classmates this August. It has been wonderful hearing from you and getting updates. Continue spreading the word about our Reunion.

Please update your profiles regarding attendance to the Reunion and call me or Dee if you have any questions! Continue to check the 45th Reunion tab for updates on attendees.

Becky

I just received two of our postcards back from our direct mailing of 221 classmates. If you know of the following classmates, please reach out to them and let them know about our reunion. Also, we need their updated contact information and to tell them about our website. It is important that we all stay in touch.

Becky, I read your post on cards returned.  I sent a msg. to Barbara Hardin Gunter thru

classmates.  I do not have contact info but I have sent a friends request to her, and the

website info for the reunion.

In ref. to Gene Plyler, Janice Plyler is his sister.  It seems a long time ago he passed away??

Hope this will get Barbara to set up profile.  I told her I & others would love to see her.

We were friends in school & went to church togethr.

Site looks great!!  Ya'll have done a lot of work.  I did the best I could since March to get word out.

Becky Armstrong (Helms)

Betty, thank you for taking the lead to reach Barbara Hardin Gunter and Janice Plyler re Gene. Hopefully, we will hear back soon. The saddest part of managing the website is updating the In Memory section. It is hard to believe that so many are not with us. I update our site as the information comes my way. Thank you again for all you are doing to get the word out. Becky

This website is awesome!  Thank you so much for all the hard work all of you have done to get the ball rolling.  It is exciting to see so many that have responded whether coming or not to the reunion.  It will be so neat to see everyone.  I contacted Cathy Walker Cranford and she is thinking about it....so a maybe from her... Thanks again for all the hard work.  See all of you soon!

Becky Armstrong (Helms)

Karen,

Thank you for the feedback. This is a learning experience for me and one I'm enjoying. I hope all enjoy the website and if my directions are not clear please let me know. We only want to ensure we have an accurate headcount for the reunion. Betty Diamond Mathis has received confirmation through FB and Classmates.coms so she has done a phenominal job getting the word out. Kay Elrod has helped with suggestions on what goes on the website to enhance it and make it more interesting to those logging in. She is my second set of eyes and has been a great support. With everyone like yourself spreading the word, it truly is a group effort this year. I am so looking forward to seeing everyone on 8/13. It will be one of our best reunions I feel.

It would be good to see Cathy Cranford so hope she can make it. Can you follow up with her and let me know?

Many thanks,

Becky

Your website is well done.

When I went through the In Memorium I was shocked at the names of so many that I knew from this time period.

I guess that we aren't immortal and invincible as we all thougt we were in 1966.

Our prayers and thoughts for all of our class mates that that have passed on and their families.

07/02/11 11:26 AM #27

Becky Armstrong (Helms)

Thomas,

I'm glad you are enjoying our first ever website. I would like for more classmates to download photos and tell us more about what they are doing.

I, too, was shocked to enter all the names into the memoriam section of our site. I had no idea before that we had lost so many. Managing the website has been an emotional experience in many ways (and a test of my communication and computer skills!!). I am proud to be a part of this website effort this year and working on the Reunion Committee. We are going to have a good turnout and only wish you could make it. Stay in touch. I intend to scan more of the annual pages as time permits.

(See Dee Ratterree Nobles' note below. A good suggestion, Dee!)

Does anyone have a picture(s) of the old Rock Hill High School? If you can scan any pictures and email them to me, I'll be glad to download them on our website! Becky

Thanks, Reba for sending in a picture of the Old Rock Hill High School. Everyone can see it on the Nostalgic Images tab. Check it out!!

Becky Armstrong (Helms)

Everyone,

We will have a silde show at our reunion August 13th. Part of it will be pictures of deceased classmates (see the In Memory tab on the homepage). I am missing yearbook pictures for the following classmates. If you have a photo of one of these classmates please email it to me at rebechel3@aol.com and it will be added to the slide show. I will also download the photo to the website.

Also, I need you to email me your pictures and pictures of you with family members, pets, etc. that can be added to the slide show. We need to see what you are up to! This will be a way those attending the reunion can see each other at a glance and spark conversation as we socialize.

Thanks for your help and involvement! This is YOUR reunion so let's make the most of our special night!

Becky

Great picture of the old building. Did you notice the windows opened? No A/C! How did we survive, how did we learn anything? And all the girls wore stockings to school.  Nowadays, they would close school until the heat wave had passed.

Becky Armstrong (Helms)

Kay,

Welcome back! All that is so true! There is a new norm these days with dress codes, and I don't know how we did without AC back then.

I need you and everyone to email me directly at rebechel3@aol.com  your profile pictures and any pictures of yourselves with family, children, grandchildren, pets, etc. so the pictures can be added to our slide show presentation on Aug. 13th.

I am unable to download from individual profiles since these are password protected so I need everyone's help with this. EMAIL ME PERSONAL PICTURES AS SOON AS YOU CAN. 7/25 - I learned that I can download from your profile pix so have done that for our slide show. I am gathering pix from others via email also. I am still learning about all the features of our website and the technological expertise needed to manage it. It is overwhelming at times but awesome to have the experience. What a wonderful way for us all to "meet" each other online after so many years. However, nothing takes the place of face-to-face so plan to attend our reunion 8/13 if you have not done so.

Thanks!!

Becky

Hey Becky: Aren't you a little tired of looking at our faces on this forum? I wish some others would join in and chat with us.

Once again, I am inviting anyone who is interested to carpool from Charlotte to the reunion. So far, we have a pool of two. Please message me here. Looking forward to seeing you all!

The countdown clock continues to move towards August 13th and our 45th year reunion. August 6th is when the committee gives a final count to the Country Club.   Have you made your plans and sent in your check yet?

Please remember to encourage our classmates to sign up at this site...  this is where we will communicate all of our reunion plans.

To send an invitation to the site, go to MISSING  CLASSMATES, and enter an email address if you know it.  That will automatically send an email to our classmate and invite them here...

Don't forget to check out the reunion details on the 45th Year Reunion screen / tab on the LHS of the homepage!

Thanks again, and look forward to seeing you soon! Becky Armstrong Helms - 704-488-0486

Good to hear from you. Thank you for the feedback on the website. I love the song Gloria and the beat!

So far we have 99 attendees saying they are coming August 13th! Everyone rest up and be ready to party!

Continue to check the website and the tab "45th Reunion 8/13/11" tab for updates. Everyone please try to be on time that night so the photographer can take your picture as you arrive.

All the best and here is a quote as we look forward to seeing one another:

Gloria: Welcome to the Message Forum. So glad to hear from someone. Tell us some of your high school memories or send us some pictures of you as a cheerleader.  Please clear up a question that has been on my mind since all this started. Was it David Inman who drove the GTO? Any one can answer this who is reading the forum.
