Message from Barbara Smith Lazenby, Class of '67

I just want to express my appreciation to the Class of "66 for a wonderful reunion. All the committee members put a lot of hours and hard work into making this a very memorable occasion--Friday and Saturday. There are not enough words to describe this fabulous event! Thank you so much for the invitation. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I hope you are all resting up and having visions of the 55th! How could you top this event? It was wonderful. Any classmates who missed it missed a special treat!

From W. H. Morris on 4/19/16

"Kay .... missed seeing you at the reunion. Everyone associated with the reunion did a great job. At our age, maybe we should start having a casual get-together every couple of years. Again, the reunion was very enjoyable. Thank you to all that set it up.""

Rufus,

It was so good seeing you at the reunion. Thank you for your comments. We all came together in 1966: some from RHHS, WTS, Emmett Scott, and Sullivan. Somehow, the chemistry worked that year. It was special no doubt.

What a wonderful evening this past Saturday acknowedging our time together as Bearcats.

Once a Bearcat, Always a Bearcat,

Becky

Rufus:  I'm sorry I missed seeing you, Clay and Herbie at the reunion. It would have been fun to have our photos made as the WTS-ers. I wish that our girls had participated in the reunion as well (Pat, Susan P, and others) I think about them often. I would have loved to see Bill B, Richard H, and Goody too.  Maybe we can do a "70's birthday party" like the class of '64 recentlly did.  Since you stay in touch with so many of them perhaps you could influence them to join the web site and reconnect. So glad you enjoyed it.  Stay in touch through the web site and send us your ideas on our next reunion.

As a member of the 50th reunion planning committee, I'd like to thank everyone who has commented on the reunion and their very kind remarks.  I'm so glad everyone had such a great time.  The committee did work very hard to make this reunion the best one yet.  The 55th reunion planning committee will have a high bar to reach.

Dennis: Thanks for missing me!  As a matter of fact, I missed you too. I was looking at those pictures and didn't see lots of people who were signed up to come - you, Gloria, Nancy Hart, Debbie Bartle, John Hunter.  I hope to eventually find all those people included in the photos.  You can be sure I'll be at the next one, God permitting. So glad you enjoyed yourself!

What a great two nights we had this past Friday and Saturday. It was a pleasure working with the Reunion Committee. Everyone completed their assignments and worked together as a team. I, like many, saw classmates I had not seen since graduation night back in 1966. It was amazing. I believe everyone had a great time, and the Emeralds were perfect. I discovered that Susan can still do the Boogaloo! She is still paying for it.

Thank all of you so much for coming last weekend to the RHHS 50th Reunion!  The whole Committee was very excited about our Warm-up Party on Friday and then the Reunion on Saturday.  I truly believe everyone had a great time seeing each other again and now only wish we didn't have to wait another 5 years. Let's all try to stay in touch with each other and who knows.....there could be another get together a whole lot sooner.  Personally, I enjoyed very much being on the Committee and getting reacquainted with so many friends. Kay, we missed you so much and look forward to seeing you soon. Oh, I LOVED hearing our fight song!  That was so cool!

I know how much work the committee had to do!  What a great job!  Thank you.  Judy Beach

Kay Manning (Elrod)

Karen: Thanks for the kind message. I missed you too. So glad you had a great time. I thought the turnout was great.  People came from all over to share in the event.  Though at times growing up we all felt a little invisible in school, it is apparent we meant so much more to each other in the long run. We grew up in a very special time, perhaps the end of the traditional school experience. Nowadays, kids are bused out of their neighborhoods, transferred here and there, attend charter schools, private schools, etc, and haven't the commradery or loyalty that we had to our classmates or our school. Those times were special! I understand that  many families move around so their children can attend certain schools. There are no roots anymore. Weren't we lucky to have our neighborhoods, our cherished school, the great teachers, and all these wonderful memories!
