Kay Manning (Elrod)
Karen: Thanks for the kind message. I missed you too. So glad you had a great time. I thought the turnout was great. People came from all over to share in the event. Though at times growing up we all felt a little invisible in school, it is apparent we meant so much more to each other in the long run. We grew up in a very special time, perhaps the end of the traditional school experience. Nowadays, kids are bused out of their neighborhoods, transferred here and there, attend charter schools, private schools, etc, and haven't the commradery or loyalty that we had to our classmates or our school. Those times were special! I understand that many families move around so their children can attend certain schools. There are no roots anymore. Weren't we lucky to have our neighborhoods, our cherished school, the great teachers, and all these wonderful memories!
