Becky Armstrong (Helms)
I asked Ron for his permission to share details of what he has been going through:
I consider myself blessed to have had excellent health up until now. I have had Chemo and numerous radiation treatments through the Levine Cancer Center of CMC. I continue to be blessed by having all my medical bills covered by the retired military Tricare for Life insurance program. The only thing that I need now is prayers as I enter this final phase of my life.
I was first diagnosed with stage 4 non small-cell lung cancer. We thought that we had it suppressed only to find out a year later that it has spread to my brain. I have been told that I'm not a candidate for the new immunotherapy and can only have radiation or surgery to keep it suppressed. So far I have had one whole brain radiation treatment and three targeted radiation treatments. They can only do one targeted treatment on one tumor one time and if it comes back, the only other option is brain surgery. I'll find out the results of my last MRI tomorrow morning. Wish me luck.
