Below is a message from John Baron’s sister, Bebs Chorak to all the classmates who turned out for John’s memorial service:

Would you please tell the class how much it meant to us.......to know they remember John and cared enough to come to his service. He would have been so happy. too.  He loved his friends, but he just wasn't able to hold himself together enough to see them over the years.  He had a tough life....but he is at rest now.

THINGS I MISS!

CD Players in new cars!

I miss

Full Service Gas Stations.  Remember when you would pull up to the station and that little hose running across the parking lot would go "ding, ding, ding" and an attendant or two would run out and clean your windshield, check your oil, water, and tires and pump your gas?  WOW! That was service!  You paid around 30 cents a gallon for that impeccable service. They told us that we would save money by doing these things for ourselves. I miss service of any kind.  Nowadays, customer service means "do it yourself".  Our children don't understand our resistance to these new ideas - we are stuck in the past.

Our thanks to Cheryl Pope Bumgarner for reminding us that Ernie Nivens passed away in 2017. Our apologies for not posting his obituary on our In Memory page. The obituary has now been posted and you are welcome to leave your comments and remembrances. Thanks Cheryl!

Today, as I was cleaning my self-cleaning oven I happened to think. "Self-cleaning simply means that your mama ain't here to do it for you, so you have to do it yourself!"  Our poor moms had to clean their ovens the hard way with EasyOff and a steel wool pad.  We are so blessed to live in this era!

Self-cleaning is fine, self-serve not fine!

Post June 4th on FB from Lyn Jackson:

My lawn mower literally rode up a tree, threw me off, and fell on its side. My right leg ended up under the mower and my left arm was broken right below the shoulder. It was a miracle that the mower did not fall on top of me. Spent 3 days in hospital. See ortho doctor today to find out if surgery is needed.

Later a post said surgery is scheduled for next Thursday so not sure if that was last week or tomorrow.

Her surgery is today and rehab will follow.  What a freak accident! I wonder how she pulled herself out from under the mower or if Bobby was home.

Marilyn (Lyn) Baker (Jackson)

Unfortunately I got a call from the surgeon’s office this morning changing my surgery until tomorrow.  Very disappointed after getting psyched up for it today.  Bob was not home when I had the accident but I had my cell phone in my pocket.  I called 911 and the ambulance and Lesslie Fire Department responded.

Lyn, That was very scary. You are indeed lucky. I'm still having therapy from before John died when i sliped in the hallway  &broke my shoulder. Prepare for a fairly long process. Anyway my sympathies; I know what you're going through. Hang in there.

Prayers and thoughts to Jerry, Terry Wingate and family for the loss of their brother Stan. Because of a stroke I can remember very few people. Jerry and Terry I remember and I remember Stan because he was my neighbor in York for many years. He was a good neighbor and friend. So sorry to hear of his death.

So sorry to hear about Stan.  Little brothers aren't supposed to go before us older ones.  May God grant comfort, strength and peace to you all and especially to Stan's wife, children & grandchildren.

Hey, asking for Class Pictures from Ebenezer. I am interested in the 6th., 7th.,and 8th. grade years just before we started RHHS. Ms. Sears, Mr. Grier and I can't recall our 7th. grade teacher. Thank you!

Kay, I am doing fairly well concerning the circumstances. Not a lot of pain now.  Some difficulty in sleeping.  I’ll have to wear a sling for 5 more weeks which makes doing anything difficult. Bob has certainly stepped up to help me.  Appreciate him so much.  Also appreciate more than y’all know the prayers for me.  They do work.
