Richard, you are right. My neighbor's sister lives in Zebulon or Apex and a few years ago suffered a shock when her house was shaken off it's foundation by one of our quakes. Repairs were over $30,000. Her house was on the market at the time and she had to take it off until repairs were made. She had no EQ insurance coverage nor money to make the repairs. A sad situation. What if a tree were to unroot and fall on your house, would that be covered by EQ or homeowners insurance? What if there is unseen EQ damage such as a cracked chimney, and it was not discovered until you wanted to sell your house, is there a statute of limitations on that kind of damage? How does one prove it was EQ damage? You raised a lot of questions.
One of the couples on TV who lost their home was our age, didn't have EQ insurance and could not afford the damages out of pocket. How sad for them - it is so hard to start over at this age.
