When they(NC) moved it from 75 to 65 I called immeadiatly. They said they had to finish the 75's second doses before I could get one.......about 2 months???? I thought you had to have the second one within 2 weeks. Sometimes living in the boonies has disadvantages.....................................but it's worth it

Russell and I received the Pfizer vaccine that requires 21 days between shots. I believe Moderna requires 28 days. If you go online you may be able to find an earlier appointment. When I went onlineyesterday at Novant there were about 12 openings 7am to 3pm. You just have to keep checking.

Joe and I got Pfizer vaccine at MUSC-Lancaster on January 14th. We get our second vaccine on February 5th. I went on line to SCDHEC Vaccine Locations. This is a map showing all locations in SC that are giving the vaccine.

Got an appointment at YCHD in Rock Hill, Feb 17!  I was at the point I'd take anything anywhere. I'll throw in a window visit with my Mom and that will make the drive worth it.

Ya'll, after I had my shot yesterday, my arm was sore at the injection spot. That was about it. I sleep on my left side so wish I'd had the shot in my right arm. Ha. Ha. Anyway, I took an advil before going to bed last night. You know or maybe you don't how at this age you feel tired and achy especially in the morning when you first wake up? Well, today I feel great and refreshed, more so than usual. Wonder if the vaccine has something to do with that? Hmmmm.

As the vaccine merry-go- round spinsGot a call earlier this afternoon and was told if I could be at Iredell Memorial in Statesville Saturday at 1:40 I could get stuck. I'll be there I tell the mysterious stranger. That's 70 miles closer than RH, ain't cancking RH til it happens.

Well that was a good experience, the folks at Iredell Hosp got it going on. I decided to leave my house early because I had never been there. My GPS took me the shortest route as usuall, and I wound up coming in the back of the hospital. When around  front and turned in to see a police officer in the middle of the street leading to the tents and he started waving me in. I stopped and told him my appt wasn't until 1:40 (it was 1;05) he said you good, get behind that beige truck. Showed them my ticket and got my shot. Hot little nurse said pull on down and wait 15 mins and you are done. Pulled out of the lot at 1:25 with my load of Pfizer.. Almost 4 hrs and no ill effects.

My goddaughter's husband is a cardiologist at Massachusetts  General Hospital and teaches at Harvard Medical School. He explained the need for 2 vaccines as the first vaccination is priming the pump and giving limited immunity and the second vaccination as finishing up the protection. Yes...the second vaccination usually has some side effects....

Having my 1st black coffee and all is well. Not only do I feel normal, my arm doesn't even hurt, i can rub it really good on the spot I had  the shot....nothing. I won't talk about it any more because in 21 days I will prolly get hammered.

I am Nickie George's wife and just want to give a little insight into the 2nd shot of the vaccine.  I had the Pfizer vaccine, so, my experience is with that vaccine.  Be prepared for a headache that you have never ever had before, chills, fever, severe fatigue, and stomach upset!!!!   At the least chills, fever, headache and severe fatigue.  Plan to be prepared with Advil, plenty of fluids, and being in bed for 1 to 1 1/2 days due to the fatigue.

Kathy, thank you for sharing your experience. We had the 1st Phizer vaccine shot so this will help us and others prepare for the 2nd. When I had the 2nd shot of the shingles vaccine, it affected me for several days. Posting what we know will help each other and we can share the information with friends and family also. Thanks everyone for using and staying engaged on our website as we go through this stage of the pandemic.
 

At church today someone heard of our getting an earlier appointment. I was able to share on my phone how to navigate on the medical portal as available appointments pop up in real time. She conducts swim classes at senior centers and she plans to share the info with them. Please share what you know with others.

Here is some feedback from a couple in our church who are in their 80's. I did not solicit the information but it may help us be better prepared. It sounds like the 2nd shot may create some symptoms so good to know.

"Bob and I got our 2nd Pfizer this past Saturday.  The first one didn’t bother us, but the 2nd one made me not feel well for all day yesterday. Was achy and zero energy, but woke up this morning feeling fine.  Bob didn’t have any affects from it"

Thank all of you, Becky, Jimmy, Kathy, Rita and Suzanne - everybody- for sharing your experiences. Your information has been so helpful in guiding us through a scary time. We have appointments for our first shots in April and, frankly, I'm going to need that time to psych myself into getting the shot. I have read and heard the second injection will have flu-like side effects so we all can expect something more than a sore arm. Sorry Kathy you had such a bad reaction.

Would someone please share with the class what you are doing to entertain yourself or pass the time in these days of gloom.  The news anchor today was saying "there is nothing to do! Can't go to a show, can't go out to eat, can't go to a ballgame, kids can't even go to school - what is there to do?" Some days I feel like all I have done is wait for this to pass without accomplishing a thing. Please share.
