Max Youngblood

Got my second shot yesterday and tried to use it as an excuse to stay in bed this morning. I told my wife my joints hurt and she said it was just old age. I figured it was nothing that a margarita and a soak in the hot tub wouldn't take care of.

It's all about attitude, Max!  I like yours!  Hello to Linda.    Kay

For some technical reason, Dianne Ludlam's birthday notification did not go out. I think it is fixed now. Please wish Dianne a happy birthday today March 5th or belated. Don't birthdays last a month anyway??

Dennis, can you identify these bad boys for us again?  Thanks, Kay.

Dennis W. Haire

The cowboys pictured from left to right are Barry Ferrell (RHHS class of 1963; deceased), myself, Joel Ferrell (RHHS class of 1966; deceased) and Bobby Ferrell (RHHS class of 1961 or 1962; living & possibly still teaching at USC Sumter).  We were first cousins.

Thanks Dennis!  Good times. I have a cute picture of my husband in his cowboy suit, about 4 years old.  Kay

Just learned that our classmate Don Hamilton passed away either last night or today.  He had been in the hospital for  awhile with Covid.

Lyn, Thanks for letting us know.  I can't believe that.  Kay

Got it, thanks to you and Becky.  Richy

Richy:  One thing to watch for is that it sometimes will flip back to the previous setting. Don't know why that is....Kay

Most of you are ahead of me in getting your Covid vaccine.  I've been reading about your experiences and side effects.  I got my first injection on Sunday and Sunday night I had the strangest dreams and anxiety. Has anyone else experienced that? My husband said he had weird dreams after his first shot.  I read on line that a lot of people had experienced this, but it was not listed on the list of medical side effects.  It was a rough night! So excited to have the first shot behind me. Went to Atrium on Kings Drive - no lines, and everyone was so nice. My prayers are with those still struggling with the illness and loss of loved ones.

Also, I wanted to ask you to stay in touch with your old friends and classmates to make sure they are safe and healthy. We have not heard from a number of classmates that used to keep in close touch with the web site over the years and I wonder why.  To name a few, Tommy Hart, Karen Tinsley, Jackie Kimbrell, Mike Woodall, Stephanie Griffith and Steve Rast - I hope they are busy and enjoying life and have not been sick with this horrible illness. There are many more - please check in with your old friends.

Kay,

I see this January 30 post by Karen Tinsley on FB below with a photo.

My husband gets his hair cut by Jackie Kimbrell's sister. When he was with her about a week and a half ago, he crossed paths with Jackie. I do not see that Jackie is on FB so that is all I know.

I don't think Tommy Hart is on FB. Perhaps someone else has heard from him.

Becky

Post from Karen January 30 on her FB page.

My 2nd Infusion and 5 more to go.I am participating in the Research Study Program for Alzheimer’s. Thank you for your prayers.✝️

Hi everyone, just wanted to check in and give you an update on what's happening with me. I've been home for three weeks now. I've been getting in home physical therapy and occupational therapy. That has help a lot. I'm able to shower now. I can dresss my self and do a few small things to help my wife, like take the dog out. I'm walking without the walker but still use it sometimes. I'm able to go upstairs to my office which is really good. The occupational therapist made her last visit yesterday. The physical therapist said I was doing really good. She told me on her last visit that she thought my recovery was going to be a long and drawn out procedure. She was very impressed when I went upstairs. She said you are recovering much faster than I anticipated. I still have some pain in my hips and lower back. I'm still doing the exercises that the PT gave me. She showed me two new ones and they really made my hips hurt. The next day after I did my second set it felt a lot better. I'm still a little stiff after sitting down even for just a few minutes. I make a habit to get up ever hour and walk around the house to loosen up.

I've had both of my COVID shot with no side effects. They did test me for COVID before I left rehab and it came back negative.

I want to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I'm ready to get behind the camera again and start taking pictures.

Becky: Thanks for the update on our FB classmates. I guess our web site didn't make the cut. Sorry to hear Karen is having treatments for an illness.  I hope you made it thru your surgery ok today. Prop that arm on a pillow and have a cold drink. Enjoy some leisure time.

Thanks, Kay. What a hassle with the right hand in a splint. I see the doctor for follow up in 2 weeks. It is hunt and peck with my left hand till then but good bye Dupuytren's Contracture. Becky

Wayne:   So glad to hear you are progressing with your rehab. It will be slow, but in this day and time there is little else to do but to take care of yourself. Look at all the progress you have made!  Amazing! Please stay in touch and feel free to call on us if you need help in any way during your recovery.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dons passing. My prayers go out to his family. I know he will be missed.

I saw the orthopedic doctor yesterday afternoon. I got a good check up and my hips were not damaged in the fall. I was also cleared to drive. I will see me PT lady this morning. I'll find out then if I can put the walker away. I don't use it much any way. Thank you all for your prayers and support.

Good day fellow Bearcats!  It's time to let everyone know I am safe and living the good life in Florida. I read the post as they pop up in my email and glad to hear you folks are doing well (realitivity). And I am also sorry to hear of the passing of so many of our classmates at what I think is an early age. So many have left so soon. Sad...

Thanks Cheryl Pope Bumgarner for the nudge to check in.

You're welcome, Mike. Glad to hear from you!! Cheryl

Mike: So glad you checked in with the class. Good to hear you are well and living the good life.

I heard from Rocky Evans yesterday and he, too, is doing well after a year or so of misery.  He seems to be in great spirits and looking forward to better things ahead.

Thanks both of you for letting us know you are safe and well.  Would love to hear from others.....
