Thank you for all  the Birthday Wishes!! I walked 73 minutes in honor of my birthday!!!   Then I was able to celebrate with the whole family which was so much better than last year! Like most of you I have had both shots with no side effects. So I feel very blessed. My mom used to say......... "I don't know how I got this old this fast". Now I know exactly what she meant!!  Hope all of you are doing well and have a wonderful Spring!

All, this message was emailed out but am posting here as well. Becky

Dear Bearcats

Re: Our 55th Year Reunion

Several of you have expressed that you are looking forward to seeing one another at our next reunion which would normally take place this year.

It seems not too long ago we were at our 50th - dancing, dining, and mingling, never thinking that four short years later, we would be experiencing a global pandemic. Now here we are in 2021, still required to wear masks, social distance and avoid crowds. The good news is there is a vaccine available, and more and more Americans are being immunized. This will help return us to a new normal. However, that new normal is yet to be seen.

I have reached out to your 50th reunion committee members and asked for guidance on holding our reunion this year. Due to where we are in the current pandemic and uncertainties regarding large gatherings, we feel it best to postpone this year’s reunion. You know if we meet we will want to hug each other!

Hopefully, next year will bring an opportunity to gather in-person safely without concerns. Until then, please stay in touch via our website, encourage others to join, and send in your photos and updates.

Thanks for your loyalty and support to our website,

Becky, Kay, Dee, and Cheryl

Sympathies to Lucille Mauldin Wilson on the loss of her sister, Ellen Mauldin Donahue, Class of '67. Here is a photo of them at our 50th reunion, John & Lucille with Ellen.  Ellen's husband, Larry is listed in our in memory section. He passed in 2014. When living all four would attend our reunions.

I hope you all get a chance to see Tommy and Mickie Jennings Wright's wedding photo in our Going the Distance gallery. The photo is beautiful.  They were married over 50 years and sadly, according to Mickie's caption, Tommy passed away in April of 2019. This is the first we have heard about it.  We will work hard to enter Tommy in our In Memory section as fast as we can so you all can post your memories of him.

See Tommy's obituary in the in memory section or click here:

Thanks Cheryl Bumgarner Pope for finding the obituary.

Many thanks to all for the kind birthday wishes.  Can't figure out where the years went.  Seems like only yesterday when we were doing whatever Bearcat high schoolers were doing in the merry month of May.

Rebecca Littlefield (Jones)

Kept seeing all of these congrats on an award to George come thru to my email.  I had to sign in and see what this fuss was all about.

Oh my goodness!  This is the highest civilian honor given and quite the award.  I'm very happy you received this, George.  Congratulations!  What an honor for you, your entire family + future generations down your line  -   very impressive!!   And to think, all you had to do was be YOU !

Miss Rebecca - it is odd you should say "all you had to do was be YOU!" I had that same thought when I saw the article on line.  George has always been George's best George. He never waivered. Isn't it an accomplishment  to know who you are at such an early age in life? Thanks Beckie!   Kay

PS:  George, this is what people say about you behind your back. Sorry we are speaking like you aren't in the room!  K
