You all embarrass me with your kind & generous comments about my reception of the "Order of the Silver Crescent."  I think it just means I had a couple of good friends who knew how to present things in just the right way to cause the Governor to smile upon me.  So many Pastors are truly much more deserving.

I will say that the feeling that has most captured my heart in recent days is gratitude to God for allowing me to serve in the ministry.  In college I turned my back on God during the spring of my sophomore year and lived in a manner I much regret.  I did not return to Him until three years laters.  That our kind heavenly Father would not only let me to return home to Him, but also allow me to earn my living as a Pastor of a church composed of men, women, boys & girls that He purchased with the price of His own Son's death, is a privilege I will be eternally grateful for.

And I wish that same grace of God upon you as we celebrate the date of our 55th graduation from RHHS.  Seems like it was only a few years ago.  Where does the time go?  Love you crazy Bearcats.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like 55 years ago that I attended a drop-in for George when he was leaving for the Air Force Academy.  There was a man with a collar (minister) that was drinking a beer.  Growing up Baptist in Rock Hill, I was thinking "Can they do that?  Unheard of."  Anyway, the world has changed a lot over that time but George is pretty much the same.

Today, I happened to notice the date on our commencement program. Tonight at 8:00 we should all remember where we were 55 years ago - altogether under on roof at the Winthrop auditorium. There has been a lot of water under the bridge from that time to this - 55 Memorial Days, 55 more birthdays, etc...   Kay

Good work, Kay.  Had not remembered last day of May was our final march.  So long ago, but sure doesn't feel like it's been 55 years.

Please post your photos or conversations about how you celebrated this holiday week-end. Perhaps you are still celebrating as I post this.

Russell and I hosted a "Garage and Outdoor Gathering" yesterday at our home. Our entire street was blocked off, neighbors participated along with friends and family. Folks brought their folding chairs and we had a funky table contest. There was music, dancing and karaoke. We acknowledged our military and lives lost to give us freedom to gather together and pray before our meal, Smithfield's Chicken and BBQ.

J.J.Jansen of the Panthers joined us and autographed a football for my great nephew who wants to be a longsnapper one day.

A special day for sure.

My neighbors Dennis, Misun, me and Nick

Sister-in-law, Alice, me and Russell and friend, Judy Godley.

Panther J.J.Jansen and me.HIs parents are our neighbors so he dropped by with his children.

Roland DeLoach

It is with a broken heart I report that my incredible wife of 53 years, Nancy Bradley DeLoach, passed away on Tuesday, June 15 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. We had an idyllic love as she was truly a gift from God. I miss her terribly. Life will go on, but I look forward to the day when we will be reunited.

Last year Nancy was successfully treated for invasive breast cancer. She was rehabbing well to build back muscle mass when routine blood work revealed an extremely high white blood count. We immediately rushed to her Cancer Center on June 10 where she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia. The disease quickly overwhelmed her body resulting in her passing.

Services are scheduled to be held at Magnolia Funeral Home (Magnolia, TX) at 2:30 PM on Monday, June 28. Following is a link to the site and her obituary.

Roland, my old friend, I am so sorry to hear of Nancy's passing.  I remember being in many classes with Nancy and Lynn and I have very fond memories of spending time with y'all when your Dad was the pastor at Derita Baptist Church and I worked at Duke Power.  I can remember eating Sunday dinner at you parents' house and watching football with everyone.  My Mother died from leukemia at age 66 after she had a second round of leukemia.  She died in one week after being diagnosed.  We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
