Kay Manning (Elrod)

Did anyone happen to catch "The French Connection" (1971) on TV last night?  I stayed awake long enough to see Mz. Rebecca Armstrong (Helms) make her acting debut. She was outstanding in the role of airline stewardess/flight attendant.

Kay, if you blinked you would miss my scene. The plane was in the hangar at LaGuardia airport when the filming took place. When my fellow flight attendant and I arrived we did not recognize any of the actors and concluded noone would ever see this movie. To our surprise it won the academy award that year for best picture. Becky

Love the Max, Jimmy & Becky vignettes. But speaking only of 1981, my highlight was seeing our beautifull daugter become potty trained!

No service too small! And we all thank you for that!

George, here is the photo you wanted to post of Lyn and Chantal, pen pals since Mrs. Connelly's French class. Amazing!  K

Many of the photos are posted in our Photo Gallery here on the web site. It's fun to review all that you have submitted over the years.  We would love to have more!

George: I love your class trivia!  It is amazing how you get people to open up and tell their stories. Thanks!

Ernie Wright

Is there going to be any activity Friday night before the reunion?

03/18/23 08:06 PM #2320

Becky Armstrong (Helms)

Ernie,

The reunion committee discussed the two day option. We decided to put our energy and resources toward a one night event.

I hope those still considering signing up will contact George or any committee member soon to make your intentions known. It will be a fun filled evening no doubt.

Becky

Picture day with our robes.

Gail, thanks so much for the picture.  That was so long ago, but seems like yesterday.  We always appreciate any photos you all can send.  K

Jimmy, on the pictures that you just posted, is that a new baby?  Have you named it yet?

That pic was from last year, Kay. I deleted some old ones and I guess it moved them up.

Phyllis Moore (class of '66) gained her angel wings this morning at 2:10 after a hard fought battle with bladder cancer. She was loved by all that knew her and will be missed terribly. We all take solace that she is now with her Lord. Per her request, she will have a graveside service this Saturday at 2:00 at Sunset Hill Cemetery 500 Alta Vista Rd. North Augusta, SC There will be a drop in later in Rock Hill for us to gather and share our memories of Phyllis. I will post when those plans are finalized.

Oh David! I'm still laughing at your comment at the SC Firefighters' Memorial Service that George shared with us.  Our most embarrassing moments tend to stay with us forever.  Your sense of humor is uplifting!  Kay

Becky Armstrong (Helms)

Thank you Rebecca and Kay. I am going to start counting my birthday a la Jack Benny next year. I will be 39 then!

The entire committee is working very very well together to bring classmates together June 3rd. Let me add a thank you to some spouses as well. One person cannot do it all I assure you. That would be no fun!

There is still time to sign up. We can get additional food ordered up to a week before per the caterer. It all will be a fun night starting at 5pm.

Becky

Prayers for Bruce Morrison, who fell in April and seriously injured himself.  He notified us he would not be attending the reunion.

Thomas Ballard, (1946-2023), Class of 1965.  While doing some research on the internet the other day, I stumbled across this bit of sad news.  I remember Tommy very well, though I didn't know him.  He always seemed to be smiling. That's a great memory of someone.  There are some great pictures on the obituary page.

Bobbie Marie Key (Rourk)

OK, here's the deal.  A lot of people worked very hard to make our 57th reunion very special.  And there's a lot of you who did not even bother to show up.  Yes, I know it gets harder as time passes but, as Connie (Estes) Elkin reminded me a few years ago, ain't none of us getting any younger & we need to keep in touch.  Forget all the high school crap - we shared a unique time in our lives & it deserves to be celebrated.  60th comes up in 3 years (or 36 short months) & we need to see a bunch more of you.  We have lost 1/4 of our graduating class but that leaves around 300 of us - get yr butts in gear & make the committee's dedication & hard work worth the effort.

Linda Greene (George)

Sorry to have missed the reunion last night. It's the first one I've missed since our fifth!

My "new knee" was more tender, swollen and generally uncomfortable than it had been since last week. (Unfortunately, I understand that's the way it will be for a few months.)

I certainly hope everyone had fun and made new happy memories.

Thanks to the committee for getting this put together. I know they did a great job.

Love and peace to you all till the next time.

ps  The class of '65 gets together every three months for an informal lunch. Just a come if you can situation. Maybe we could try something like that in between the big ones

I might be the only one, but the change in the 'in memory' page is not as good as the prior feature. Having them divided by year of passing was a much better way. Example: Say one of classmates passes and their name begins with a 'Z', unless you scroll all the way through reading every name for new entries one would never know. As we advance in age, we certainly don't need to complicate life. IMO

Jimmy,

Thanks for alerting me to this. The setting defaults by year now.

Let me know if there are any questions.

Becky
