Survived another scare last night, plenty of ice but the hard freeze didn't start until about 5am so the roads were to warm to keep ice. I'm not a snow person so I don't have a fondness for winter------why don't I leave the mountains? The other 9 months are heaven on earth. Snow/ice only means one thing for me, getting on the tractor and trying not to freeze while keeping my driveway clear (3/4 mile).

Thanks for sharing the update and photo, Jimmy. Stay warm! Becky

Years ago, Duke Energy came and cut down trees and vines  in our back yard back near the creek and under the power lines and since then we haven't enjoyed spring as we used to. The honeysuckle is gone and all the creeping foliage that smelled so good about this time of year.  This week we have been blessed with that heavenly aroma once again. I can't figure out where it is coming from, but it's back and I'm not going to question it. Thank you to the Heavens for a glorious spring. The dogwoods are gorgeous! The azaleas are stunning! and the aroma is intoxicating! I'm so glad my nose still works.  K

Certainly not my yard, not even local, but internet pictures equally as lovely as a walk through Glencairn Gardens.

Mike Lamb was one of my first friends when I moved to Rock Hill in 1959.

He had an infectious smile. He was a joy to be around.

I just sent a message to Scott and Jeanne Martin in St Louis asking if they escaped the F4 tornado that recently devastated a lot of homes, businesses and killed several people in St Louis. I hope they are ok and are able to respond.  Pray for them, and if you can think of anyone else in the areas of the tornado outbreaks please check on them or let me know who I have missed so I can send a message. Thanks!

For those of us who don't keep up, Scott and Jeanne have been in the Boston area for sometime and missed the big F4 in St Louis. Scott did say they had a Nor'easter in Boston with torrential rains.  They are safe and what a blessing to miss out on that F4. K

Sorry to hear about Goody.  He, Richie Williams and I worked evenings at the Goode Shop during school.  He was always a lot of fun to work with, (if you call all the flirting with Winthrop girls working).  Sad to see us loosing so many great friends.

Remember the window fans. They worked well if you were lucky enough to get the chair by the fan.  We didn't have A/C until around 1963 when my parents built their house on Bailey Avenue......many sleepless nights until then.  But, that fan, the one that sounded like a helicopter landing in the living room,  got us through many summers. I wonder where that fan is now.

When I retired from my 3rd job at 66yo, I vowed that I would not die sitting on the couch. So, I'm still trying not too!! On the Tail of the Dragon, Deals Gap, NC last weekend aged 78y 5m 10d. Rode 300 miles that day on some of the twistyist roads in the Robbinsville area.
