Alan was one of my best friends. My family moved back to Rock Hill when I was in the 5th or 6th grade and we soon met and became great buds. We first connected in sports and soon began hanging out, growing up, growing old, and moving on. I haven’t seen you in years and I say that with much regret. My heart breaks as the memories pour in. I will miss you but I will always treasure the time we spend together. So long my friend. Rest easy.

Alan was a great guy. I regret that I did not re-connect with him once we moved back to Rock Hill. Rest in peace, old friend.

I think he played for Coke or Union pony league baseball when I played for Smith's / L&W. I remember our coach talking about what a good fielder/ player he was. He always was nice, and sincere through out high school to me, remembered me from pony league. My prayers to the family.

A few weeks before Alan passed, I was visiting a friend at HealthSouth Rehab when I heard someone call my name. I looked and saw a man, still unknown to me, motioning me towards him. The man introduced himself as Alan Beckham, someone whom I knew well growing up and playing baseball with during my teenage years. It was obvious that Alan's health was not good. Even as a write this, I can't remember the last time I saw Alan, probably at a reunion or possibly while we were still in high school. Even though it had been a long time since I last saw him, Alan's health and appearance was the only thing that had changed. Alan was still a soft spoken man, kind, gentle, full of humility. That's what I will always remember about Alan. Don G.

I too remember Alan from my years at Ebinport. He was a real nice guy and was liked by everyone. I also knew his wife Margaret. Her parents and my parents were good friends for years. He will be missed but his memory will live on.

Alan was a great guy, always smiling. I got to know him at Sullivan and we remained friends thoughout high school. I saw him a few times after high school. He was always smiling then, too. I don't like to see our classmates leave us so early. I like to think we all are going to live for many more years.
