We say farwell to another one of our friends and classmates. Sam Pagano passed away last week from cancer. We send our condolences to his wife and family. No more pain, Sam. Rest in Peace our friend.
Sam was a good friend. We grew up three blocks away from each other and had many of the same interests. Lincoln Park Boys Club, Lincoln Park Grade School, Wilson Jr. High and then Auburn. We both were drafted in the Army and served in Vietnam. Sam moved to Florida soon after that so we didn't get to hang out much anymore. Jerry Johnson and I flew to Florida to visit Sam a few years ago. We played Golf and attended one of the many Drag Race Events Sam participated in.
Other than seeing Sam at Class Reunions, I was able to visit with him while on vacation. One good time was when we met for lunch with Jerry Johnson and Larry Matthews at a local bar.
Sam was a good man, with many friends and was always up for a good time. He will be missed but always remembered with that constant smile.
