Patty was born in Roseburg, Oregon, on October 28, 1955, to Wilma and Reuel Phillips Jr. She graduated from Roseburg High School in 1973 and began a career in banking at Douglas National Bank. She spent her last 14 years at Umpqua Bank, as VP Manager of Store Operations, where she received numerous awards for excellence in customer service. She was loved and respected by all of her staff and co-workers and she felt the same about them.
Patty was an active member of 4H in sewing and made many of her own clothes during her school years. Patty completed her solo pilot license on her 16th birthday, before she got her driver's license.
On July 31, 1982, she married Robert Paul and they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, listening to Pink Martini, her favorite band at Music on the Half Shell.
Patty lost her year-long battle with sarcoma cancer on Tuesday, December 21, 2010.
