Karen Lee White Combs
Jan. 17, 1955 — Aug. 12, 2009
Karen Combs of Philomath was with her family at home on Wednesday when she went to be with the Lord.
She was born in Salem, where her loving mother taught her the written Word of God from the Bible. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 6.
Her earnest desire was to live a godly life, and she said, “I know the Bible is true and Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He forgives me, and that is why I know I am going to Heaven.” Diagnosed with cancer in January, Karen shared, “God gives me peace, and I am not afraid to die.”
Karen graduated from Roseburg High School, Umpqua Community College and George Fox University, attaining a bachelor of science degree in education and a bachelor of arts degree. She also attended postgraduate courses at Oregon State University.
She home-schooled her two sons, taught elementary school, and was instrumental in starting Love INC of Benton County. She went on mission trips to Honduras and Russia, and numerous times to Mexico, helping with an orphanage there, Casa de los Niños. Karen’s passions included sharing the Gospel, working with children, and working in her flower garden around her home.
A beloved member of Faith Christian Fellowship in Corvallis, Karen is survived by her husband, Marc, of 31 years; sons Luke and Josh; mother Joyce DeWater; stepfather Bob DeWater; siblings Lynda Wilson and her husband, C.C., Tami Good, James, Mildred and Genevieve White; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

I love you my dear friend and will always miss you.  Your heart was gold.  You gave of all you had to those in need.  I know I will see you again in heaven.
