After only a short visit on this planet and a long, strong fighting battle with Leukemia, on his numbered day of Monday, July 12, 2010, at the age of 55, Michael Luz Diaz left this earth to eternally be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born in Eureka, California. Michael was greatly loved by his family: his sons, Taylor Diaz of Eureka, and Justin Diaz of Reno, Nevada; father and step-mother, Rudy and Sue Diaz of Fortuna, California; mother and step-father, Virginia and Werner Junker of Roseburg, Oregon; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Mark Driver of Roseburg; brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Kathy Diaz of Fortuna; Jennie and Chris Anderson of Roseburg; Tom and Martha Cerna of Bonnie Lake, Washington; and Debbie and Dan Crowley of Eureka, along with a very extended family. Michael had the gift of making any stranger his instant friend. He was a friend to the world, but he was also a rebel with a lot of charisma who loved the wind in his hair and the sound of the pipes from his Harley in his ears. He was a happy person, and always had a joke or a story. Michael loved to make people laugh. But more than anything, family was the center of his life, and he always said how proud he was of his sons, Taylor and Justin. Michael was cremated and his ashes will be buried at Roseburg National Cemetery. A private memorial will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010, in Roseburg. Michael will be greatly loved and missed by all who knew him until we meet again in heaven.
