School Story
Most of my memories are music or drug fueled. I became a musician and an artist in Roseburg. A Denis Johnson novel written about those years would describe that time well. I've stayed in touch with some of you, but others are either dead or their ideology prevents them from talking to me. But high school teachers: Bob Fey taught me how to draw a perfect circle on a chalk board, which I still to this day use to wow students. His wife, Carol Fey, played Sgt. Pepper's every day in art class. Steve Steele taught me jazz and sobered me up, put the fear of god in me about my drug use, and I will always be grateful for that. And the art teacher, Dave something something? What was his name? Can't remember. But he was the guy who told me to stay weird.
