I spent 35 years working in local government, primarily in transportation and land use planning. 32 of those years were spent working for the Town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. During several of my last working years and continuing after my retirement I have written several book on military history. I have also devoted myself to improving my golf game, without much success.

I was involved in transportation and land use planning primarily for the Town of Chapel Hill. I retired as the Manager of Long Range Planning for the Town after 32 years of service.
The day, late in my senior year, that I was suspended by the Lake Park Superintendent for writing something critical of the school administration in the school newspaper.
Ted Demos, who helped me learn how to think critically and express myself through constructive debate and Mike Troyer, who helped me become a better writer.
I worked at Kroc's and Brentano's bookstore at Woodfield Mall.
Continued my education at Western Illinois University. Undergraduate degrees in political science and history and Masters degree in Public Administration. After graduation in 1981 I worked for the Chicago Transit Authority for two years before moving to North Carolina and taking a job with the Town of Chapel Hill.
Golf, reading, writing and playing with toy soldiers.
1972 Maverick.
David's Latest Interactions
I was saddened to learn of Jeff's death and shocked at the details. Jeff was a good friend throughout my years at Lake Park. I spent many open periods hanging out with him and others in the music area and faithfully showed up when he played guitar and performed in various bars. We maintained our friendship throughout our college years but, like so many other relationships, carerrs and marriage took us in different directions and unfortunatley I lost touch with him. God bless you Jeff.
