Dr. Bobby S. Sena serves as Director of the Hispanic Resource Development and Equipping Team, Church Planting Group, North American Mission Board, SBC.
He is responsible for the development and delivery of linguistically and culturally appropriate Spanish language Church planting resources for the Hispanic Southern Baptist constituency.
In addition, he is also responsible for the development of English language resources that give special attention to the Hispanic cultural distinctions, demographics and effective strategies that will aid denominational servants, pastors, church planters and/or lay leaders to develop effective evangelism and church planting strategies in the Hispanic context.
Furthermore, he promotes, develops and implements a linguistically and culturally appropriate Training/Equipping Strategy for the Hispanic Southern Baptist Church Planting Leadership
Bob received his bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University, Plainview, Texas, and Masters of Religious Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas and Doctor of Ministry degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Mill Valley, California.
He has been married for 45 years to Priscilla (formerly Priscilla Urquidez from Carlsbad, New Mexico), who taught for various school systems and retired from the Department of Federal and Special Programs for Gwinnett County Public Schools on July 2010. Bobby and Priscilla are the parents of four children: Roy, Sandee, Gregory, and Jeremy.
Bobby was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He grew up in a Christian Southern Baptist home. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at nine years of age and surrendered to the ministry at sixteen years of age in the First Spanish Baptist Church. He is a fourth generation Hispanic born in the United States and a second generation Christian Southern Baptist.
For more than 44 years, Bobby has served in a variety of ministry roles in the Southern Baptist Convention. He has served as pastor of small and larger churches in Texas and Georgia, Church Planting Missionary in New Mexico, and National Multi-Ethnic Evangelism Consultant for the Home Mission Board, Hispanic Evangelism Associate in the Baptist General Convention of Texas and National Missionary North American Mission Board.
The North American Mission Board, located near Atlanta, Georgia, is the Southern Baptist Convention home mission agency which assists SBC churches in reaching the United States, Canada, and the US Territories with the gospel of Jesus Christ. NAMB's work includes starting new churches, training and equipping Southern Baptists in evangelism, and mobilizing churches and church members to be on mission for Christ. The Board oversees the work of more than 5,300 missionaries who depend on prayers and faithful support through the Cooperative Program and the Annie Armstrong Easter Week of Prayer and offering for North American missions.
