Here is the past almost 20 years in a nut shell. Married my high school sweetheart many of you know Judy Carathers. We had 2 beautiful kids Devon and Sierra. Got divorced in 1998. Meet my second wife also form GHS Christie Byrd. Had another beautiful son Hunter. We were divorced in 2003. Met my current wife Lisa in Las Cruces we have daughter Myah and stepson David now in the U.S. Army.
I have lived all over the place and have done many exciting things. I pursed my life ambition as a magician for a while performing in Las Vegas, NV at New York, New York casino, Circus Circus, MGM Grand, The Monte Carlo, Ballys, and The Tropicana. I am often asked why I left that. Well it is a glamorous job but a hard life to live. I have lived in Manchester CT, Ruidoso NM, Lubbock TX, Frisco TX, Laredo TX, Albuquerque NM, Las Cruces NM, Las Vegas NV.
I have had many ups and downs in my life but no regrets. I have been homeless(my choice and stubbornness) to living the high life. I seem most happiest when I am in the middle. Less stress!
2003 was a hard time in life. I lost my mom who many of you know in July, went through my second divorce in August, and had a bad work accident in December disabling me from my shoulders to the tips of my fingers. It could have been fatal but God was watching over me that day. I am fortunate to still be able to have full function of both arms and hands just with no feeling in them. I can still play the guitar, bass, piano, drums, fiddle, and mandolin. Just not for the long periods of time I used to. I have dealt with bouts of depression and anxiety/panic attacks since then. I love to travel but ever since 2003 I have developed a horrible fear to fly which I am trying to overcome. It has caused me to lose a couple of really good jobs and I am ready to see the world again.
As for college. I went to ENMU-Roswell for a year out of high school. Then in 2002 I went to South Plains College in Levelland, TX where I was a commercial music major. I played country and bluegrass. I meet some famous people and have had the privilege to tour with a few. I played bass for Ty England who is also Garth Brooks band leader. I also played for Shane Stockton no longer in the music biz. Played bass for Jedd Hughes and Matt Jenkins. I also was co founder of Graceworks Christian rock band and toured with them for a while. I then attended NMSU for fire science and also received my EMT license. I worked 2 seasons as a Hot Shot Firefighter as medic and sawyer. Spent one season at the Cerro Grande Fire in Los Alamos,NM and the next season in Durango, CO at the Lemon Reservoir Fire. Have seen the devastation that has been caused and feel for the families who lost everything. I am currently attending NMSU to get my degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management.
I can go on and on but don;t want to bore you to death. My life is an open book if you want to know anything else about me just ask good or bad. I love to share my life experiences. You can email me anytime at magicadabra@yahoo.com
Hope to see you all at the 20 year reunion.
