Welcome RHS Class Of 1991!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our 20th Class reunion has been cancelled due to lack of ticket sales.  The reunion is only 19 days away and we have sold only 17 tickets.  If you are one of the ones that did send a check, we will be returning those to you this week.  This is very upsetting and not something that we have decided lightly.  There has been so much talk about the price and the economy being bad, that maybe now just isn't the right time to have a reunion.  However, throughout this process, we have tried to get opinions on various topics, only to get very little response.  We made decisions based on the opinions we did receive, but there doesn't seem to be an interest in having a reunion right now.  We tried and we're sorry for those who were looking forward to it.  It just didn't work out.  We would appreciate it if you could help spread the word.  Thanks.

RHS class of 91. Here is an idea for you. We could have a bonfire at our house that same night Oct. 15th, around 5pm. I do want it to be alcohol free/family friendly. We have plenty of parking space and room for kids to run around. Everyone bring a dish. We could even do a chilli cook off type of thing. Also I think we should do something to compensate Laurie and Tera financially. Please let me know what you think and we will go from there. I'll need help getting the word out and stuff like straw bales, more firewood, etc

Wanted to let everyone know that we are sending out the reunion invitations tomorrow, so keep a look out.  We decided to go ahead with the drink package, as that seems the most economical.  Tickets will be $50/person.  We also wanted to post the menu for you take a look at.  The dinner buffet will include roast beef with au jus, sliced ham with brown sugar maple glaze, cheese tortellini, green beans, red bliss potatoes, corn, salad, rolls, butter, tea and coffee.  The beverage packages includes all of the beer, wine and soda you want for four hours (6pm-10pm).  We are having a cake made for dessert.

Friday evening, October 14th, Jim Herndon will be hosting a tour of the high school for anyone interested.  The game starts at 7 pm, so the tour will begin at 6 pm and will take approxiamately 30 minutes.  I still need to firm things up with Mr. H., so I'll send a message out closer to the date with a meeting place.

There is nothing formal planned Friday evening, as far as mixers go.  I live over in Missouri and really don't know the good hang out places, so maybe someone local can plan one??  Feel free to message Tera or myself and we'll be happy to announce it on here.

Everyone who is registered on this website should have received an email from Tera detailing the cost of this reunion.  Please note that this is absolutely NOT a money maker...we just need to cover our costs.  We have requested input back on the drink package that is $10/person.  That package includes all of the soda, beer, and wine you want for 4 hours.  You can go on Julia's website and check out their drink costs.  For instance, one glass of wine is $5.  Bottled beer is $3.  The drink package just seems the most economic way to go.  Also, the DJ adds $7.50 per ticket, and that is NOT including his gratuity.  We were planning on creating a playlist on an IPod so we WILL have music going so people can dance if they want to.  Thank you to everyone who has responded to Tera's message....keep it coming!  We need a final price by the end of next week so we can get invites out!  In the meantime, please contact either one of us via email, this website, or Facebook!  Looking forward to seeing all of you!!!!

Well, hello again!  I'm thrilled with the number of classmates that have signed up on the website.  Please continue whatever it is that you are doing to get the word out.  Thank you so much to Tera for keeping this website up to date and for compiling all of the information that she has.  Now that we have classmates showing interest in the reunion, it's full speed ahead!  Please check back regularly for updates!  In the meantime, remember to mark your calendars for October 15, 2011.  Official invites and information will come soon.  If you have any questions, please email either Tera or myself.

Well, unfortunately, I have absolutely nothing to report from our meeting last Friday.....because no one showed up!  Yes, you heard that correctly.  So now I'm trying to decide the next course of action.  Three volunteers actually did contact me to let me know that they wouldn't be able to make it, but I guess I thought I'd show up anyway in case someone else showed up. I felt obligated to be there because I scheduled the meeting, but the hour long drive to Wood River isn't a fun one and not one I want to make for nothing.  From here on out, I will be contacting volunteers by phone to get a head count of who will showing up for meetings. If I don't have your phone number, you won't get a call and you'll have to depend on these website notifications of meetings.  Feeling discouraged.....

Wow!  In just 10 days, we have over 25% of our class registered on the website.  That's incredible!  Please continue to spread the word to classmates that do not yet have a profile.  If you are on Facebook and are friends with some of our classmates, please inform them of this website so that we can get their information.  You don't have to commit to attending the reunion to fill out the profile, but fellow classmates may be wondering about you...how you are, what area of the US you settled in, etc.  It will be a nice keepsake for everyone.  Our goal is to get 75% of our class to our reunion.  It's going to be laid back, casual, and fun for everyone.  We know that a lot of people have absolutely no interest in mingling with their high school classmates, but we are truly trying to make this a nice, stress-free event for everyone to enjoy.  If nothing more than a walk down memory lane (good or bad!), it's part of your life and part of who you are.  I know from watching my parents have reunions that sometimes you befriend a classmate that you didn't in high school, only to find out that growing up has made you have more in common.  There are also those friends in high school that maybe you haven't spoken to since graduation day and are just naturally curious about their well being. Whatever the case, I sincerely hope that everyone decides to attend. Enough of my soap box...

DON'T FORGET! Our first planning meeting is coming up on April 29th!

We have added a new "Our Old Favorites" survey on the left.  Take a few minutes to fill it out....it'll be interesting to see everyone's answers!

Yay!!  After many, many phone calls, we have a place booked for our Reunion!

It will be Saturday, October 15th at Julia's Banquet Hall in East Alton.  What is awesome is that this is actually Roxana's Homecoming weekend!  That means that there will be some great high school football Friday night!!  We are looking into getting a tour of the high school before the game, to see how things have changed (or not!)  We will also be organizing a happy hour, mixer, post-game celebration....whatever you want to call it....after the game Friday night.

We are in the very early stages of planning and thought having a Reunion Committee meeting is a good place to start narrowing ideas down.  Our first meeting will be Friday, April 29th at 7 p.m., at Chico's Bar & Grill on Sixth Street in Wood River.  I personally am planning to feast on bar food that evening so I'm coming hungry!  Any and everyone is welcome to come.  We have a few things that we need to discuss and then the evening is ours!  Hope, hope, hoping to see several faces from the past!

Last, but certainly not least, we are starting to collect pictures for our slideshow/DVD.  We want your most embarrassing, humiliating, funny, sweetest, best, and memorable high school memories for this project!  If possible, scanning the pictures first and then sending the file to Tera would be preferable.  However, if that is not possible (lack of a scanner!) and you do send actual pictures in, please label them carefully with your name so we can get them back to you.

That is all for now!  If something new pops into my head, I'll post it....otherwise, mark your calendars, help spread the word, and start getting excited!

~Laurie & Tera

Welcome to our class website!  Please take a few minutes to fill in your profile information and take a look around.  The list of classmates on this website was created from our yearbook, not an official class list.  We are in the process of getting that from the school.  If you notice someone is missing or any other mistakes on the names, please send a message.  We want the most accurate information we can get!  Also, if you or someone you know went to school with us, but didn't graduate from Roxana, we want your/their information as well.  Please send a message to us and we'll add you/them to our class list.  Spread the word!

We will keep you updated as we progress!  Right now....trying to find a venue!!

In the process of putting this website together for our class!  We will send out an email once it is up and running!

Please take a few minutes to check out the new "DJ or No DJ?" survey on the left!
