Michael, you are too kind! thank you all for the birthday wishes.  I'm afraid I haven't kept up with the class forum.  Have been very busy with grand kids, Wally's knee replacement, working at the Art Institute on Wednesdays and getting in a little travel.  Best wishes to everyone.

I would like to share with great sadness the passing of:

Michael Hammond, husband of Jayne Scallan Hammond.

Please see his Obituary at Desmond Funeral Home.

He was a kind and gentle friend, and he will be missed.

Please keep Jayne and their family in your prayers.

Thanks, Bonnie Ellison Zook

Jayne, we are saddened to hear of Michael's passing.  There are times when words are insufficient to express our feelings and this is always one of them.  I hope that you can find time to rejoice in having had such a relationship with this kind and gentle man.  Many of us never have the joy that you have been blessed with for so many years of happy times, crises, celebrations, frustrations, surprises and just quiet personal moments.  My heart goes out to you, Jayne, may you find some peace and solace during these sad moments.  To the rest of us - if there are people in your lives whom you love and haven't told in a while - what are you waitning for?

Thanks, Bonnie for passing on this news, sad though it may be.  Hope to see both of you this August.

Tom Scott - a very Happy Birthday to you!  You mentioned you were to have knee replacement surgery this month.  I hope all went well and will expect a video of you on the dance floor at your celebration tonight!  Enjoy!

Scotty, have a happy birthday and a quick and complete recovery from your operation.  You'd best bring some ice cream with that cake with those athletic ladies there to help you celebrate.  Looking forward to seeing you at our reunion golf outing - I'll supply a quaff for you.

Okay, Okay, May you all have and eat your cake before on or after your special day or days. Seems some people get upset if I single out someone about them not having ice cream with their cake. It's because it's been so long since I have had ice cream or even cake. In the past 3 months after loosing 14 pounds my mind is nothing thinking straight.

I will try my best to be good so not to be chewed out by some people.

Still love you Lorrie and always will.

I am truly sorry about your loss. You and all the class of 63 are in my nightly prayers and an extra one tonight will be said.

Now is the time to start the healing process and as I remember, you were and always will be strong.

My prayers for you and your family.

Loretta, have a terrific birthday, stay warm or go build a snowman(woman) as you wish.  Perhaps you could bring your quick smile and ready humor out to our reunion/golf outing this August.  You needn't play golf and, if you do - you needn't be accomplished.  Larry has made the experience stress free, we do a lot of socializing.  It would be good to see you.

Jayne, I wish you not merely a happy birthday, but some serenity in this trying time.  We hope that you are surrounded by your adult children and grandkids, with some friends sprinkled in.  I hope that you can find some solace and even happiness in having had such a good partner and having Bonnie as your life long sidekick.  Don't just stop with the cake and ice cream - indulge yourself with some topping and a cherry or two on your ice cream.  Give some serious thought to joining us in August for some socializing after golf, or come on out, grace us with your smile, watch and kibitz as you wish.

Scotty, congrats to Avery and her proud grandpa!!  See you in August.

Jayne,

Wishes for a Happy Birthday. I hope your day is filled with good things and for happiness each and evry day.

Cake and ice cream are the perfect way to to have a happy day and If some people don;t get to upset, put a big glob of sanders hot fudge sauce and a giant glob of whipped cream on there and don't give a rats a-- what anybody says.

After all those sweets you'll be on a sugar rush for a week. so what?

Enjoy your day, your way.

Dear classmates,  I received an email from Tom Wischman yesterday advising that John Goddard died on March 3rd after battling cancer.  He was at his cottage up here on Duck Lake in Northern Michigan surrounded by family members.  May his soul rest in peace and perpetual light shine upon another great guy from the class of '63.  🙏🏻💔

I was very sorry to hear about John.  He is one of the good guys and he will be missed.

This hits close to home for Barbara and I.  Last August our oldest daughter was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.  She had 3 surgeries to remove the tumor and enough surrounding tissue to insure that they had removed all of it.  She just finished 4 chemo treatments.   After each treatment, the side effects were harder to deal with.  She will start radiation treatments in about 2 weeks.  Her prognosis is very good and she should be cancer free.

This has been one of the most difficult things we have had to deal with.  An enormous amount of prayers and good wishes have carried all of us through.  The medical team has been fantastic and helped all of us understand what was being done and why.

I also have to give praise and thanks to our family member, friends and all the staff and administration at the 2 schools that she teaches at.  It would take me several pages to recount everything that they have done, and to share their generosity.

I will close by saying that there is a GOD, and we have been touched by his/her kindness and blessings through many, many, many, people that we know and so many others that we will never meet or know.  May God bless you as we have been blessed.
