Many thanks for the prayers and wishes for safety. There are many possibilities - Flo may stay out at sea, unlikely. Flo may hit the land and then turn back to sea, also unlikely. Flo may hit the land and turn in a northerly direction, away from me, moderately likely. Flo may hit the land then diminish, somewhat likely. Flo may hit land and then come straight here, highly unlikely,.I may start to understand how a woman's mind works - not a prayer. Simple fact is that right now speculation is that Flo will be north of me if she gets this far inland. Our weathercasters are jumping all over those worst case scenarios - that makes for exciting news. (We get survival hints whenever we're going to get ANY snow.) But none of us really knows what Flo will do. I am 120 miles from the ocean, Tom and Judy are in the Charlotte area, another 80 miles inland. Most hurricanes lose force over land, so, even if Flo makes a visit, she should have diminished to 70 mph or less (hopefully). I do have some friends in the Myrtle Beach area who may seek refuge with me. I went to Wal Mart to find that people are buying bottled water so fast that they can't keep the shelves stocked. Same with batteries, beer, and the canned goods are down. You'd think we were going to get 2 inches of snow. Here in the Sandhills it is very nice, but the Ozarks are lookin' pretty good right now, Judy.
