I would like to remember Mary Ardner.  She and I were friendly in grade school.  She was a big time Detroit Tiger fan, particularly of pitcher (and former Kentucky Senator) Jim Bunning.  Mary and I took the bus downtown to Tiger Stadium one summer day when he was pitching.  (I think we were only about we were only 10 or 11 at the time.)   We had minimal contact after high school.  She went into nursing and worked at Beaumont Hospital at some point.  I believe she died of cancer sometime in the 70's.  She was a lovely (and smart) girl.

I remember Mary being sooooo quiet and shy.  I once made some sort of smart-aleck remark to her that made her smile, and what a beautiful smile she had!!  It really lit up the room.

I will never forget Mary, she gave me one of my most embarrassing moments in High School. Mary and Annette Welemirov both had lockers next to mine in school. One day I approached my locker and I saw Annette bent over picking up some books that had fallen, her and I had what I called a brother sister relationship, so I snuck up and gave her a wet finger flick on the rear end. She turned around, and my face turned to total shock when I realized it was Mary, I stammered to apologize and she walked off with a smile on her face. Thank you Mary for not sending me back to the pricipals office for more tea and crumpets.

A few years later, after Mary became a nurse she moved into an apartment right behind my parents house. I used to see her, and she would come over once in a while for a swim in my parents pool. She even dated one of my friends for a while. I came close to asking her out myself, she turned into a real beautiful women. Some lives are taken way to soon.

Mary must have been a big sports fan, she married Jim Davis who was a sportscaster for one of the local channels in Detroit. Don't know when/if he left sportscasting and/or Detroit.
