LISA WILLIAMS WILLIAMS-RETZ

I attended Grandview College (now University) for 2 years on a softball scholarship and then transferred to ISU. In 1985 received a BS in Animal Science and then entered the College of Veterinary Medicine where I graduated with my DVM degree in 1989. I practiced in Mason city for a couple of years, did relief veterinary work around the state and then worked for Hubbell and Altoona veterinary hospitals for 13 years before I purchased my own practice in 2004. I have enjoyed owning my own practice so I can spend quality time with each animal and client I see and feel blessed to have a great work-home life balance.

I remember taking home the anatomy cats we were disecting. One day my mom went into my trunk and about passed out at the sight of a cat cut open!

I remember being chosen as the first Drum Majorette at SEP (they had always been male) and following after a 6 foot drum major, the Home Ec teachers tried their best to tailor the uniform to fit me. The band from the pants was clear over my chest and they still had to hem, tuck, etc...It never did feel quite comfortable.
