Marve' was my best friend and neighbor growing up in Rupert, Idaho. We went through grade school, junior high, and high school together. We were in Campfire Girls and Horizon Club (which is an extension of Campfire Girls) and enjoyed many related activities,(camping in the mountains, selling poppies for the VFW and the American Legion, decorating and riding on floats in July 4th parades, attending meetings of our group as well as other enjoyable events. When her family moved to the country we would still visit back and forth. Marve' had a lovely voice and was a member of the school chorus and sang in many musical events. One of her favorite songs was My Blue Heaven and she loved to sing and hum it often. In her senior year she was chosen as the first RHS Homecoming queen, an honor she truly deserved. After graduation she moved to California where she met and married Ted Holland. They had two children together. She became a widow when the children were very young. Later in life she married a second time and raised two step children as her own. We lost touch with each other for awhile but reconnected occasionally when she would visit family in Rupert and at High School reunions. I had the lovely occasion of having dinner with her in California when I was visiting my daughter who also lives in Venice, Ca but at the time was living closer to where Marve' worked. Marve' picked me up and we had a late supper at a local restaurant. We had such a good time visiting and reminiscing that we lost all track of time and I was late getting home to a worried daughter. I had occasion in later years to again have dinner with Marve' along with my daughter. From that time we kept in touch by phone and email. She was a special person and along with her family and her many friends I will miss her.
