I met Irmtraud my senior year at Rhodes College. She was an exchange student from Germany who had arrived just the week before. It was literally love at first sight. We were married in 1995 at Castle Solitude in Stuttgart, Germany; followed a week later by a reception at the Arkansas Tech cafeteria.

Irmtraud usually spends a full month or so in Germany with her family during the summer, when the kids are out of school. The kids are all fluent in German. I, sadly, can barely string two words together in it!

Visit Rome with my eldest son. I enjoy history, but my son Sammy has developed an interest in ancient Rome in particular, which has stimulated my own interest. We have visited the Roman cavalry fort in Aalen, Germany, along the Roman frontier with Germania, and I would love to visit Rome and see the sites there with him.

Also, given that I am often in Germany during June, I am investigating the possibility of attending the Battle of Waterloo bicentenary events! Vive l'Empereur!
