I discovered John's unfortunate turn of events while visiting a Raley's supermarket on Freeport Bl. from Mike Cruit.   It involved a vehicle he was driving and alcohol.   This was about 1985.  We both worked part-time at a pizza parlor and Neptune's Table.  Later on, I got to spend several warm afternoons with John, his brothers Greg and David, along with Linda Anglin (class of 1982) out at Paradise beach on the American River near Sac State University.   Those were some great pasttimes!!!

John would tell endless jokes and he was an especially rugged individual who also played in the JFK marching band on tuba.      RIP.

When I think of Jon, I think of how easy going and fun loving he was.  I'm glad that I got to know him in his too-short time with us.

This picture, from the east coast band trip in the summer of '79, is an example of how fun always happened if Jon was around.  We were walking to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the "Arabian Knights" formed to protect us band members.  Using Color Guard rifles, the Knights (Jon, Dale Cramer, Ron Hall, and Greg Richardson), ran up and down the streets of Canton, Ohio to keep us all safe.

Cindy, that is a classic Jon and Greg moment!  What a great day that was.  Thanks so much for sharing.
