Hi Bob, I loved your Great video's.  Our San Diego family (kids, grandkids & us ole' folks, Mimi and Papa) went to Tahoe for 7 fabulous, stress free days.  I showed two of my grandsons your videos.  They loved them!!  One is at St. Mary's (3rd year) a phycology major & loves film making.  The other grandson just graduated from high school & is going to attend Emerson in September.  He is really excited!!   Both of them are so creative, they are always creating some "masterpiece"!  Ha!  Mimi isn't prejudice at all!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your great humor and talent.
 Take care,
Jan (Quay) Healy

PS:  My daughter LOVED the video of Trader Joe's!  She lives in San Diego & she couldn't find TP for ever!!!

Stop'n'Shop.  Spent a lot of time there. I especially remember the bakery. Half court shot and scandalous affair, nope. All the rest yes. Ah, the good old days.

Marge, so nice to hear from you! Yes of course those of us from the neighborhood have mostly fond memories. I am pleased to share that Fremont way where I grew up has gone through remarkable changes but has maintained the old family oriented lifestyle and lasting friendships from the 50s, 60s.

Living here in a neighborhood of single family homes  in San Francisco for over 40 yrs with its diversity and families reminds me of the life I had in Sacramento but with more diversity and life experiences.
I hope you and our classmates remain well and safe during all these life challenges we face now and the near term.

Lanz dresses!  My parents said they could not afford to buy me one, so my mother made me some "look-alikes" with covered buttons and all!  Bless her heart!  Margie, my kids live in the Nevada City area (Rough and Ready).  Next time I visit, I'll look you up!

We couldn't afford them either.  I got one for 50% in a post Christmas sale.  I also made look alike myself (actually I made several.  One was army green and matched my hair which I had unintentionaaly dyed green.  I was hoping for ash blonde but the yellow in my hair and the primarily blue dye left me with a sort of an ugly  green.

Diane, I loved those dresses too. Actually Lanz is now known as Lanz of Salzburg and is featured in the Vermont Country Store catalogue. I have eaten many cheese dogs at Vic's over the years.  Vic's has the best ice cream. I still measure all ice cream with Vic's but none compare. Hope all of you are faring well during these hard times. Take care. 😷

A family friend owned Phyllis Fashions, so I got my first Lanz on sale at the end of 7th grade. Later she opened the Lanz store at the Lanai and my mom bought it when I was in high school. Embarrassingly she named it after me! In 1970 when I was teaching in Campbell, she had a major robbery and decided not to continue operating as girls were beginning to wear pants to school and her sales were down. I believe Phyllis might have closed her store (or sold it!) shortly after that as she started selling antiques. I still have my piggy bank from her store, and a Lanz nightgown from the Vermont Country store.

They really were great times at McClatchy and in Sacramento.  I don't think our children will have the same kind of memories.  Things have changed so much.  Thank you for the great list and the additions.
