Carolyn Crites (Baum)

What a fabulous 4 days this has been!  First the pre-reunion social, then the reunion itself, and afterwards the post- reunion gatherings.  It has been so much fun to connect with everyone again!!  A real blast, as we used to say!  I had forgotten what absolutely wonderful people I went to school with, from elementary school all the way up through high school. Everyone was SO NICE--what a great event!!  I'm sorry I didn't stay in touch with more of you through the years.

Thank you, David, for creating this website,  You did an excellent job of bringing us together again.  And for everyone involved in the planning and execution of the two evenings, thank you so much.  You really outdid yourselves.  This week will not be forgotten.

On behalf of the reunion committee, I want to thank everyone for attending and supporting the reunion. It would not have been the overwhelming successful it was, without your support and attendance.

I also want to express my heart-felt thanks for all the positive feedback we received for the reunion and website, it has been truly humbling.

In a few days, we will be adding a new “Photo Gallery” feature to the website. This new feature will enable classmates to upload and share their photos from the reunion, plus vintage photos that everyone can enjoy; like old class photos, sports photos and personal photos from days long gone. If you have added photos to your profile, you can add photos to the “Photo Gallery”. If not, we can help.

The photographer’s photos will be available for online viewing and purchase in about two weeks. We will add a link from our website to their website, where you can view all of the photos and order only the ones you want, including the group photo.

The 50th Reunion Memory Book should be completed within the next 30 to 45 days. For those who have not ordered one yet, there will be ordering information and “Who’s Ordered”, posted soon.

GOOD NEWS! The website will be continued into the future. Several classmates have offered to make donations, to help support the website, and given the interest and future expense, donations will be greatly appreciated. The reunion budget paid for the first year of Basic Service, which is due to expire in December. The annual expense for Premium Service, which we will need, is about $200 for one year and $1,000 for 10 years. Donation details will be posted soon.

It was a real pleasure attending our 50th Class Reunion.  To see so many old friends was a wonderful experience and to bring back so many fond memories was great.

Thank you to the committee.  You should be very proud of yourselves as it was very well thought out and implemented extremely well.

All the best to everyone and hope to hear from you when time allows.

Sincerely,

Phil Stuto

Back home in Maine at last.  What a trip and what a wonderful time we had at the reunion.  Thank you to all the reunion committee and especially David Grandstaff.  You worked long and hard and did a great job.  It was so good to reconnect with so many people from our hgh school days.  I am so glad we came.  Thank you again.~~~ Cindy

Our reunion was crazy fun, fun, fun.  Kudos to all committee members.  Talking with people who attended  Hollywood Park, Joaquin Miller and McClatchy  reminded me once again what a wonderful time in which we grew up.  Perhaps that is part of the connections we all felt Saturday night.

I sat at a table with someone I  had not seen in 45 years (he only attended our 5th reunion). Actually,we were each others first girl friend/boy friend.

Loved seeing others that are carrying extra poundage since high school, and that certainly includes me.

I am such a techy...just lost my whole response so will start over but seems sort of contrived now, haha.

Had a great time and reconnected with some loved ones and had meaningful conversations with folks I hadn't even known in high school. Felt a bit cheated that we had never connected in our youth.

So glad the website will stay on and I will contribute. No more losses now. I want to see us ALL back together again.

Re-discovered Sally Robert and found out her family lives blocks away from me in Ocean Park Washington and now we will see each other more often!

Great to meet some fine spouses and to see such happy grown ups from the confused kids we once were...

Thank you committee for all you did and David for the website.

P.S. Hey you guys, at least a dozen asked what happened to my red hair! duh, 50 years my friends!!

It is nice to keep hearing a little here and there from folks.

I read Bill Kelso's comments on Mary Doyle (who I remember with fondness) on the In Memory page and it was interesting to hear that tall people had such issues! Being 4'10" as an adult, I was always the smallest in my class. I guess today it would be called bullying but I never saw it that way. I enjoyed the attention. I was shoved in my locker once and pulled over the line at Hollywood Park to the K-3 side when I was in 5th grade so the new yard monitor wouldn't let me go back where I belonged because she wouldn't believe I was in 5th grade. I also was 17 in April the year we graduated so I had my folks to contend with too as they wouldn't let me do the things my friends did as early because I was a year younger. Very important things like wearing lipstick...so I had to sneak.

And even dating was awkward as I think I just looked like everyone's baby sister! My whole family was short so my Dad (an Amazon to me at 5'6") had me run for V.P. at  one point with the slogan "all good things come in small packages." It worked but I walked around in a box. That really made me fit in. haha.

Actually being the shortest, having red hair, a name like Charlotte (so old fashioned then) and being Jewish made me feel out of place rather than special in any way. Luckily as an adult I don't mind being short, love my name, enjoy my culture and WISH I STILL HAD RED HAIR!

I guess we grow into our skins whatever they are. My life has been happy and full and continues to be exciting as we travel and enjoy grandkids. Life is good. Thank you all that contributed to it in a positive way!! Most of my memories are  very positive. I loved school!!!

It took me a long time to write it, but I wrote a memorial for Judy Costa.  Bill Kelso's memorial about Mary Doyle motivated me.  Thank you, Bill.  I also added to the 'In Memory" Fred English and Ted Noguchi.  Ted did not make it to graduation.  I don't remember whether or not Fred graduated.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Fred Zawacki passing, especially after his brother, Ed Zawacki (our class of 1963 classmate), died just three years ago. Fred and Pauline always attended our reunions and it was good to see them there.

Our condolences to Pauline and family, and may Fred rest in peace.

We were so sorry to hear about our dear neighbor, Fred Zawacki, passing away.  He always made Dan and I laugh whenever we got together!  He and Pauline have had a very rich life enjoying each other's company.  They were soul mates and best friends.  Fred loved puttering with his cherished motor home, getting it ready for another adventure.  He and Pauline had so many wonderful trips.

We will truly miss Fred.  He would light up any room and loved life to it's fullest.  Our neighborhood will never be same.

Dan & I love you both Pauline,

Jan Quay Healy

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Zawacki family.  Fred was such a warm and happy-go-lucky person, he will be missed.  I still think of Eddie and miss seeing him at the reunions as well.

I was fortunate to meet Fred Zawacki at Sac City College - we became good friends and often he would "hang out" at my house.  I think he was my mother's favorite-he always made her laugh out loud and charm her with that magnificent smile (which seemed to be hereditary in the Zawacki family.  I was thrilled when he married Pauline and was so glad to see him at our Class Reunions.  I will miss Fred and extend my sincere sympathy to Pauline and his family.

MAKE SOMEONE'S DAY!!

IT'S FRANCES BEDDOW'S 70TH BIRTHDAY

Over the past years Carole (Wally Waltermeyer) Johnson, Lynda (Steppen) Hughes, Bonnie (DeAngelis) Stormont and I have been faithfully getting together once a month for lunch.  We absolutely treasure our monthly luncheons!

Through the years we have re-connected with Frances Beddow.  Frances has MS, each year this dreadful disease has gradually taken away her mobility.  She now is confined to a wheelchair.  Fran has her own place along with her wonderful 93 year old mother helping her.  She can't operate a computer or a cell phone. Frances is such a sweet good natured person.   She accepts her limitations with such grace and dignity.  She is a true inspiration to us all.  She and our dear classmate (who just recently passed away) Roger Peterson, kept in contact via the phone for many years.  Each comparing illnesses, current events and classmate info.  I know she communicates with many of you also.

This September 19th Frances will turn the Big 70!  I had an idea that would make Fran's special day an even grander day, by putting an SOS out to all our classmates that it is her birthday, maybe some of you would like to send her a birthday card with a special message just for her also!  She has a tremendous heart and great sense of humor!  You could even include your phone number in the card if you'd like to hear from her.  Most of all she loves to reminisce, like we all do about the good ol' days!!

PLEASE SEND YOUR CARDS BEFORE 9/12/15 TO:

Frances Beddow

c/o Bonnie Stormont

P. O. Box 333

Madison, CA 95653

Happy Birthday to all of you that have turned 70 this year.  Thank you so much!  I hope all is well with each and every one of you!

What a great idea; thank you for organizing.  I have thought about you all over the years and am glad you still get together.  If ever you can include one more for lunch I would get there.

I have  wondered how Frances was doing so many times, glad to know how to get in touch with her.  Also anyone hear from Peggy Hunt?  Hope to see you in person soon.

Very sorry to hear of Frances's troubles. I'm glad you have brought this to our attention and providing a meaningful way for all of us to get in touch with Frances and wish her all the best!

Thank you for this unhappy information about Frances, and for giving us her address. Perhaps our wishes can cheer her up.

Turning 70 isn't much fun anyway  (been there, done that...)...as I said in a little thank-you speech for my retirement party last week, "When you're 70 and say that you have problems with your joints, it doesn't have the same meaning that it did in the '60s!"

All my best wishes and hugs to all the Lions who are crossing that bridge this year...   peace and love, Diana (Doupé) Vicari   - p.s. new email as of 1 Sep:  d.vicari@orange.fr
