As I pursued the comments and those honoring the lives of our fellow classmates, I am deeply sadden to hear of their passing. The one nice thing is reading the memories that are related in the tribute to our comrades in education.
As we age, it hurts to see so many leave us. Today, I was looking over our In Memory section and noticed some of those who were close friends and those who acquaintances (just saying hi while passing in the hall). My regret is not getting to know them better. (I worked for a CPA during my time in college and one his quotes was “too old too soon—too smart too late”) Sometimes, I wished I could go back in time and get to know more of my classmates. However, I probably be the same dumb kid and not take advantage of the opportunity.
I really enjoy being reminded of the good times at California Junior High. The fun times in Mr. Lopez’s homeroom, sock hop dance in the gym, sneaking a transistor radio in the class room to listen to the Sacramento Solons, and working in the textbook room.
Moving on to McClatchy, it was the teachers that I miss. Mr. Simmons speech class, Mr. Murphy Physiology class, and especially history with Ms Caldwell. The most interesting class was Russian, although, I cannot remember the teacher name. Not only did we learn the language, but the history of the USSR.
To all my classmates, keep on writing about the carefree days of our youth. It great to be reminded.
To Dave Grandstaff and crew, thank you for this website. It is great.
All the best,
Ron
