My occupation(s) and/or accomplishment(s):

God has blessed me with the privilege of serving Him as a pastor going on 42 years: 5 1/2 years at Mt. Olive, Lincoln, NE; 32 1/2 years at St. Paul's, Ft. Atkinson, WI, and serving Immanuel of Deerfield, WI for 4 years now.
I was running the Boston Marathon in 2013, coming down the home stretch when the two terrorist explosions went off. I was supposed to be right at the finish line where the first bomb went off. By God's grace I was running too slow. Another miracle of our Lord!
The Good Lord worked a miracle 5 years ago. I had a heart attack and a stroke at the same time. By God's grace I'm still here, still on two feet, and able to serve our small country church, which has been a great joy. Humanly speaking, my doctor friend told me, it was the fact that I'm a runner that I'm still on two feet. I'm grateful for my wife's essential oils and supplements. I'm not on any medication and can still donate blood.
Kathryn and I are thankful that 4 of our 7 children live within 60 miles of us. We were able to purchase an adequate home in Ft. Atkinson, making it possible for us to enjoy our family and our 31 grandchildren when they are able to come. You are always welcome! :-)
I'm looking forward to seeing as many of the great class of 1970 as possible in May, 2021. Hard to believe that it's been 51 years since we graduated.

Current events in my life:

Our little country church, 10miles from Madison, WI, along with a sister church are working together to begin a mission in Deerfield. We learned that the little village of Deerfield is the second fastest growing community in Wisconsin. If you read this and have a spot in your intercessory prayers, we'd appreciate your prayer support. As you know, "All depends on our possessing God's abundant grace and blessing."

Other interesting details:

Our home is located on almost half an acre of land. Thus, there's plenty of space for our garden, raspberries, grapevines, and flowerbeds for tulips, geraniums, and gladiolas.
I've been blessed with successful batches of sauerkraut for the first time the summer of 2019. We were blessed with a record crop of grapes last fall -- 150 pounds. The winemaking, grape juice making, and grape jelly making went really well A friend suggested this name for our wine: "Schar Da Nay"
:-)

Favorite MLS memory:

Home wrestling matches at MLS. We had the greatest fans! The gym would be FULL! The cheering was outstanding! When we'd have away matches, there'd hardly be a soul there cheering on the home team.
One time in German class, I fell asleep. If it hadn't been for Patty Ryer sitting right behind me catching me, I would have fallen out of my desk to the floor. Thanks Patty!
Working in the kitchen with Mr. Billitz. I'd have all kinds of opportunities to greet classmates and other students while working. Our senior year, Sherry Hirth and I were awarded "Best Smiles." :-)
Too many good memories to enumerate here.

Happy Birthday plus one day, Wayne! God bless you with many more days and many more years! May He use you to do some great things in retirement! You have a good memory for your one year at MLS. I remember you far better in our first year at Northwestern College. You took some really great pictures. Are you still such a good photographer? Hopefully we'll get to cross paths at MLS for our 51st high school class reunion!
