Four of us drove to Colorado for a ski vacation during Springbreak 1969 in a big Buick sedan Brent borrowed from his folks. We drove 20 hours straight through. It turned out that the heating system wasn't working so we just about froze to death in the middle of the night in Wyoming, although I was hypothermic and don't remember all the details. The skiing was fantastic, but we were so sleep deprived that again I don't remember many details. Or was it the partying while we were there? Thank god we made it home safe and sound.
A number of years later I worked for Brent briefly after I first moved to Bend. He had a cabinet shop. He was always an assertive (controlling?) kind of guy which was the source of much kidding. He was willing to go along with the humor. I lost touch with Brent after he moved away from Bend and was very sad to here about his early passing.

Thanks Peter for writing something - Brent was a "character" in his own right. I love what Rob had written - "Bwana" - Rob Earle said he gave him that name. I always wondered where it came from and why - and whenever I heard it - which was a lot - I thought of Tarzan! I too am sorry that Brent isn't around to join us but "Bwana" will always be in our hearts and thoughts!

Earle actually started with the "big BWANA" (Brent was a big guy) and it just became "BWANA" - over the years. Earle was always kidding him and would reply (bowing) "Yes Bwana, no Bwana". Pete mentioned "controlling", and certainly direct and in your face would have to be in there too. When questioned - he would say "NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS" and he especially used this one on Ron Wiebe. They used to love to push each others buttons. Then he would say "SHUT UP". I was talking to Nick Fulwiler the other night, and the other one he would always say (even on a Friday night at 8PM) "TAKE ME HOME, I'M BORED". I had forgotten about that one. I would have to say.....he was one of my favorite people from the past, and every time we went to ski in Bend (where he lived) we would stop and see him. He wasn't able to ski - because he had a bad hip. He did have a very different sense of humor - but his favorite TV show in HS was "laugh in". His best friend our senior year was Ralph Jackson - who he simply referred to as "JACKSON". He went on the ski trip that Pete mentioned - but I don't think he was able to ski (hip)?. He just wanted to be in on it, and be with his buddies (especially Ralph), that says a lot about him. He really was a great guy.
