This came as a huge shock to me. So young. I was Marvin's girlfriend our senior year and his fiance for two years. He took me to the top of the capitol building to ask me to marry him and gave me a sapphire engagement ring--never the traditionalist! We went to OCE (now WOU) together and lived in dorms with windows facing each other's rooms. After one year of college, he decided to go to Japan on an exchange program. He always loved learning and made the most of his experience living with a family in another country. His weekly letters were so informative! Obviously, we broke up and went our separate ways.
He loved technology and probably embraced the computer age with gusto. He had a great collection of reel-to-reel tapes in high school with an eclectic selection of music, radio shows, and other unusual recordings. He also loved photography and rarely went anywhere without his massive 35 mm camera (with a set of lenses including telephoto) slung around his neck. I'm sure he was thrilled with digital cameras--both their small size and giant capabilities.
I was told by another classmate that Marvin had diabetes and congestive heart failure.
