I recently learned that Mary had passed away last year from her brother, Bob. She was a very nice and welcoming individual who had done many different things in her life. She had obtained advanced college degrees and had spent some of her time in the ministry. Before her death she had been employed by the Salem School District. It is sad that her life was cut short; she will be missed.
I sat next to Mary Rose Kelly in first grade - she had long red hair that she wore in braids that came to her waist. We laughed about that year for years - she used to feed me the wrong arithmetic answers and I would DIE of embarrassment! She always knew the right answer and was quite gregarious in those years. I was sooo shy!
In later years we really would laugh about that year - we had a VERY old teacher that scared the hoo ha outa me - but Mary was so confident and sure of herself. My younger son has the same color hair that Mary had - I will remember her with fondness.
