Salt Lake City, Utah-Owen Glenn Killian, beloved father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly on November 26, 2024, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on July 7, 1952, in Roosevelt, Utah, Owen led a remarkable life filled with love, learning, and adventure.
Owen lived in several states, including California, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Florida, before returning to Utah to be close to his family. He was a man of many talents, holding two master's degrees-in human resources and special education-and a bachelor's degree in accounting. Throughout his career in human resources management, his genuine concern and understanding was apparent and he touched many lives. Owen's loving nature and concern for others left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
After retiring, Owen moved to Key West, Florida, where he became the Editor of the Florida Weekly, embracing his love for words and storytelling. A passionate foodie and wine enthusiast, Owen delighted in good meals shared with loved ones. His curiosity and commitment to learning made him a voracious reader, and he instilled the value of education in all those around him.
Passionate about travel and Broadway, Owen often made his way to New York to partake in the newest and oldest of Broadway. Even in Salt Lake City, he delighted in finding tickets to some of the classics like Wicked and Hamilton. His face lit up with happiness when taking his grandchildren as well, as he wanted to be the first to introduce them to the theater life.
With Kevin always by his side, it seemed like they were always off on a new adventure abroad. Hawaii, Portugal, Spain, Rome, and Costa Rica were some of his favorite trips. Owen often talked about visiting new places and would do constant research and planning. Owen never left home without a solid itinerary.
Above all, Owen was a family man. His greatest pride and joy came from his grandkids, whom he adored: Isabelle Killian, Parker Killian, Maddison Killian, Maya Killian, and Jamison Lang. Owen's warmth, love, and unwavering support will be cherished by his surviving family: his sons Christiaan (Kelly) Killian and Jeferri (Teri) Lang; his mother, Dona & (Darrell) Crawford; his brother, David (Laura) Killian; his sister, Karol and (Gary) Drechsel; his devoted husband of nearly 27 years, Kevin Davis; son in law Preston Davis (Chelsey), and his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Killian.
Owen touched countless lives with his kindness, wisdom, and generosity of spirit. A celebration of his extraordinary life will be held later this month to honor his memory and the profound legacy he leaves behind.
