Jim Blodgett

Jim Blodgett

Early on Tuesday morning, January 30, 1996, James Edwin Blodgett peacefully returned to Heavenly Father.

His loving brother, Lynn, sat with him during his last few hours. His 44 years here were not always easy. He faced many challenges including health problems associated with diabetes. Those who love him tried to help. His generous brother-in-law, Mark Bay, willingly donated a kidney in a valiant effort to save his life. Everyone who knew Jim admired his courage as he made the best of his situation and used all his strength to help others whenever he could.

Jim was born October 29, 1951 in Salt Lake City to Jack Donald and JoAn Pritchett Blodgett, the second of nine children. He married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Anne Call, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 10, 1973. His six children love him dearly and will miss him: Daniel James (presently serving in the Texas Houston East Mission), Jaime Anne, Wendy Lynne, Marques Reed, and twins, David Hamer and Michael William.

Jim is a very loving father. Spending time with his family always brought a smile to his face.

Jim loved track and field in his school days and could run like the wind. He became an Eagle Scout and served an honorable LDS mission in the New England Mission. Jim has served in the Elders Quorum, Primary, and was currently serving in the Young Men's presidency. He enjoyed boating, music, and vacationing with his family. He also loved the challenge of work-at the knees of his parents, he learned about computers and running a business. He learned to work hard and to never be afraid of any task he was given. As president of Unibase, Jim was loved by his employees and respected for his integrity and compassion. He touched hearts of many people with his fun-loving personality, sweet spirit, generosity, and kindness.

Jim was preceded in death by grandparents; his beautiful sister, Nancy; and a good friend and cousin, Mark Chilton. We know that many were there to greet Jimmy with open arms. We who love him are grateful we knew him and we will miss him every day. He is truly an inspiration to us all. We are thankful he is now free of pain and suffering and we look forward to the day we will see him again. We love you, Jim!

Jim is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters and four sons; parents, Jack and JoAn Blodgett; five brothers, Jack (Vickie), Tom (Christie), Lynn (Joy), Ernie (Lisa), and Bill (Cori); two sisters, Jill (Mark) Bay, and Joanne Blodgett; and many nieces and nephews.
