Valerie Nielsen

Valerie A. Nielsen, 25, of Salt Lake City, died Monday, July 25, 1977 at the Holy Cross hospital from injuries sustained in a motorcycle-automobile accident. 

She was born July 23, 1952 at Logan, a daughter of Grant S. and Jewell Christensen Nielsen. She was married to Michael Burkett. They were later divorced. 

She was a graduate of Olympus High school and the University of Utah, majoring in music. She was a pianist and had worked as a legal secretary. She was a member of the LDS church. 

Survivors include her parents of Salt Lake City; a brother and sisters, James Nielsen, Kearns; Mrs. Barbara Hart of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Randy (Marjorie) Turner of Draper; a grandmother, Mrs. Mable Nielsen of Brigham City. 

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Colonial Mortuary, 2128 South State, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services. Burial in the Brigham City cemetery at approximately 1:30 p.m. Friday.

We wish to take this means of thanking all those who extended assistance, comfort and sympathy at the time of the illness and death of our beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister. In life’s darkest hour, one comes to realize the true meaning of the word “friends.”

Valerie passed the summer we graduated.  She was a pasenger on a motorcycle involved iln a crash.  A talented pianist and beauatiful person, shw was a joyful and always smiling.

Val and I had a little thing for each other back in Jr. high. She's the first girl (of many) to break my heart. (My honor). She was an emncely talented musician and good soul. It's hard to believe 50+

years have passed since those days. We we're all lucky to be us!
