Giving Back - East High Pantry
A Great Way for the Class of 1975 to Give Back to EHS:
In 2018 East High opened a food pantry as part of their Student and Family Resource Center
with a generous donation from Smith’s Foods. Located on campus in a secure area, the
Leopard’s Stash is student-run and provides food and other basic items for students in need.
The pantry is open to all 2000 students and is stocked with donations from the community.
Today, close to 60% of East High’s students qualify for free lunch, which means their families
live at or below the poverty line, including some dealing with homelessness. The purpose of the
pantry is to combat food insecurity among East High School students, and it includes a
boutique where students can access donated clothing items and a space for students to
shower and do laundry. The pantry has made a positive impact helping students to focus on
their studies by addressing their basic needs.
They are currently in need of the following items:
• Hygiene Essentials—toothpaste, deodorant, body soap, shampoo/conditioner, lotion
• Household Supplies—laundry detergent, dish soap
• Clothing—socks (all sizes)
• Non-Perishable Food—canned tuna/chicken, peanut butter, jam, cereal, canned fruits, pasta,
noodles
