I don't know about favorite, but funny, looking back, was when my then girlfriend Janice Dow (Highland 65) thinking the game was over ran out on the football playing field near the end of a drubbing from East, and began kissing me. I was thinking of our days back when we played in the bands. Dennis Spykermann passed away, as you probably know. Jim is still around and doing well in California. Our young drummer, TerryHanks, is probably around today. We had such a blast playing at the U of U outside and in the ballroom when we opened for the Ike and Tina Turner review. Ike came up to me and told me my G string was flat. Now I don't know if he meant my bass or my crotch! I hope you and Karen are doing well. I remember you told me Karen was having a lung issue, but that apparently turned out ok? Say hi to her even though she called me an when we talked the last time. I still have a photo of us playing at the ballroom, and I show it to my friends with great pride. Your beer drinking pal, Al!

Howard was my best friend at  Highland. We played football and ran track in school.  We played golf together many times.  We played in the reunion golf tournament, and he played well.  He told me he had Crohn's at that time and knew it would worsen with age.  Rest in peace, my friend!

Hey Dave! I hope you are doing well and staying healthy. I found out this week that our fullback, Howard Smith, had died. He had Crohn's disease. The last time I saw him was at the reunion golf tournament. Our team included Joe Hogan, who died recently. I thought you would be interested in this sad news. Keep hitting them long and straight! Your old friend, A.

Hi Davis! I thought you might like to hear about my best in high school. Howard Smith was a great fullback in football and ran track with me. He was a good golfer and played in the reunion golf tournament. He told me he had Crohn's disease, which could be a problem in later life. It was, and he died yesterday. I messaged Tom Rolfing about it, and he posted in the the website. I sounds like you've had a good life, so stay healthy and happy. Al.

There is no obituary yet, but I will post it when it comes out. I hope you are still having a great life, and I think of Molly once in a while. Your pal, Al.

As you know, we played football and ran track with you. It's so sad when I see friends die, but we all are getting older, and it happens. I hope your life is good and you live a long life! Al

Hello, young fella! I was looking at classmates, and I found you. You've obviously had a great life. I remember you in chemistry class and others. I took up golf later in life, but I was never as good as you. I just wanted to congratulate you on your accomplishments and are happy and have good health in retirement. Your old friend, Al.

Hi Tom! I check in regularly to see what's happening. I've notified several people about the status of Howard Smith, my best friend at Highland. As you know, we played football and ran track together. I was told by a friend that he is very sick and may not live long. He played on my team in the reunion gold tournament, with Tom Majerus and Joe Hogan. I'm sure you know that Joe passed away after that. Howard confided in me that he had a health problem that could get worse later in life. H He had a son who was a Paraplegic, so that's probably what was in his genes. He is in hospice, so that's not good. I had such a good time at the reunion and a couple of CATY lunches. I've tried to contact him, but he hasn't responded, and given the situation, I expected that. I thought you would be interested in the situation. Well, it's been fun hearing what others are doing in their lives. We're all getting a little older, and things like that are happening. Your friend Al.

Hi Tom! I was thinking about the reunion golf tournament and thought of you. I'm sad to say that Howard Smith was on our team with Joe Hogan, who is now deceased, and me, still kicking. Howard told me during the tourney that he had a disease that could affect him later in life. Howard is in hospice and not expected to live much longer. His son was a paraplegic, so that's what he was relating to. I hope you are retired from the bowling industry and in good health. Your friend Al.

Hi, big guy! I'm glad you stopped by the course at the reunion golf tourney. I have sad news for you, our hard-running fullback Howard Smith is in hospice and has not long to live. He has a son who is paraplegic, which he told me at the reunion golf tournament, that he had a health condition, and that was probably in his genes. I don't know if you participate on Facebook, but if you do read this message, I'd be happy. Your bulldike friend, Al.
