After graduation, attended Weber state College for a quarter before being accepted into the Utah Air National Guard. Spent my 1966 Christmas & NewYear in boot camp at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas !!!!
After returning to SLC for Auto Mechanic trainng, because the Tech school in Michigan was snowed in, spent the next 6 months learning to service Military vehicles from the Motorpool. Served 7 years without being called to Vietnam or any other Militay base, retiring as a Sgt.
Since it was too late to get into the Spring Quarter at Weber, I learned that a Hollywood movie Studio was hiring extras & signed up to be a "fighting" soldier in the filming of The "Devil's Brigade", starring William Holden !!!!
For the summer of 1967 I got shot, blown up,or captured by the Germans in nearly every combat scene.
I then went back to School for a couple of years, but after meeting my future wife while cruising "State" with Terry Brunstad, met & eventually married Diann !!!
I should note that Terry also married Diann's girlfriend Nancy who we met "dragging State" !!!!
The next 46 years flew by with 3 daughters, 2 Granddaughters, 3 grandsons & a Career in Law Enforcement with the Salt Lake City Police Department & the US Federal Reserve P.D.
I am proud to have been one the founding Officers that started the PD's "Race-A-Cop" program in 1979, the first actual Police Race Car in the Country !!!!
I finally retired from the workforce on January 31, 2014, and am happily volunteering as a "Honey-Do Specialist for the "Redhead" !!!!
