Ron was the first person I knew to own a calculator.  They cost about $400 in 1973 and did about 64 functions.  He always loved technology.  He owned Messick Computers and kept very busy keeping everyone computing efficiently.  I loved to take my computers to his shop and discuss the latest in life and politics.  My kids even enjoyed going to his shop.  He was very personable, informed, opinionated and fun.  Years after his death, my family talks about the computers that he built for us and how we miss his influence.

As I am helping with preparations for the 50th year reunion of our 1974 class, my mind races back to the Men's Association where Ron was my First Vice President.  I recall the consistent support and encouragement that he provided througout the year.  I will miss visiting with this Titan brother at the reunion.

I remember how hard he worked to earn the $400 to buy that calculator. His help got me through chemistry.

Ron was probably my best friend in high school.  We just clicked.  I'm sure he convinced me to buy my first $400 Hewlett Packard or Texas Instruments calculator as well.  I still think of him periodically and wish he were still here.

Beth Sterner Fitzpatrick. My first crush, in 7th grade. I remember one dance at Olympus Junior High, lining up along the gym wall and Ron finally coming over to ask me to dance. 'Crimson and Clover' holds a special memory for me. He was a very kind person.
