Our dear father, grandfather, husband, brother and son, William Wright Neff, passed away on October 26, 2018 after a valiant fight with cancer.  The cancer came strong and fast; in little more than two weeks Bill’s body was overcome by the disease.  His strong, passionate, and kind spirit will be sorely missed.

Bill was born in Salt Lake City, UT on May 27, 1949 to Alice May Wright and Thomas Brinton Neff.  He was raised in East Millcreek and attended Skyline High School.  After high school, he served in the Utah National Guard and then served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the British North Mission.  Shortly after his return, he married his sweetheart, Reneé Jolley.  He attended the University of Utah where he obtained a degree in accounting and became a CPA.  Bill and Reneé were loving parents of five children while residing in Sandy, UT.  Bill started his own accounting firm in 1981 and loved serving his clients until he retired in 2015.  He was regarded in his profession for his knowledge and unquestionable integrity.  He loved his family and spent every vacation with them.  One of his favorite vacation spots was Lake Powell, where he took his family almost every year. He and Reneé served an honorable mission together in the Florida, Orlando Mission. They returned in March 2018 with 6 sweet months to spend with his family before he was called to serve his final mission.

Bill is survived by his wife, Reneé, his children; Tonya, Brandon (Tonya), Amber (Troy), Ken (Jessica), and Natalie (Rich), and fifteen fantastic grandchildren that he adored.

We will fondly remember his huge heart and how he would give the shirt off his back, his great skill at fixing things, his tough exterior but his soft heart, his great love and pride for his family, his true and simple faith, his obedience and sense of duty, and his love of cooking a huge meal to feed the crowd.  He was an amazing man that didn’t need the spotlight.  He was happy to serve anonymously.  We are forever inspired by his example and know that he finished his time here on Earth to return honorably to his Father in Heaven.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Oak Grove Ward, 11570 S. Wasatch Blvd in Sandy, UT beginning at 12 Noon. A visitation will be held Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) in Sandy, as well as prior to services beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
